    revo...a bangers perspective

I used to until I started getting allegies to alot of the woods in cues. Thought at one stage I was having allergies to the epoxies etc. But I have an autoimmune disorder. When I get it under control will be making cues again.

    butt rattles at joint

I came across a cue last weekend, it rattled at the joint. I was so certain that is where the noise was coming from. But yes the sound was from the handle joint, but the actual failure was a split in the very bottom of the handle, with the sound being emanated at the joint. It was totally silent...

    Cynergy vs Revo...

Look into cue shaft frequencies, and there is the last part of your quest. It is very important. A lot more than realised. Some have done shaft frequency testing and some shafts, both composite and wood can have a frequency that makes the tip hit the cue ball twice.

    Carbon fiber shaft issue

It all depends, if it is a longitudinal split, or a cross grain, shatter in the shaft. Super glue is very good in an area that is very close fitting like in a split cracked shaft. The wick in very thin cyano will be as strong as the original resin. There will be a reason for a longitudinal spit...

Buzzing noise from cue when hitting a ball

That makes sense now. With too much thread engagement, and being too loose can cause issues too. In reality the threads only need to be 1.5 diameters long if they are metal and a max of 2 diameters long if they are alloy. I made my early cues with the threads too neat a fit and they needed to be...

Michael, What was the aspect of the joint screw that caused the buzzing?

    Funny pic/gif thread...

NZ is the country actually launching rockets. They are making history now with a launch to the moon. Mahia peninsula is their launch site. Electron rocket idea is very simple and very clever. They slingshot around the earth to get to the moon. https://www.rocketlabusa.com/space-systems/photon/

Buzzing noise from cue when hitting a ball

A check to see if its shaft or handle is to change the shaft. That will isolate the actual area of concern.

How important is the cue for beginner-novice level?

Buy a really good cue, be it carbon technology or old technology. Then learn to use it. Find the tip that best suites you. Beginners often do better with very soft tips , and as they get better will progress towards a harder tip like a medium. I don't know of any players that play with Hard...

    Warning about Benny's Cues

Well you have to hand it to them, their painter is fairly amazing. Did you have any pics before it got sanded down? I have come across a lot of cues that look to be a type of vinyl print wrapped onto the cue. Or else it is a printed tube that is shrunk onto the cue after it is made. Some look...

    Another Ball screw

I think that it relies on the compression fit on the ID of the generated form and Not the OD of the pin. I can't see it working any other way. The area at the crest of the form is insufficient to last any length of time. Being old fashioned, I like the 18tpi pins myself. You get it staying...

IS USING PLEDGE ON A CARBON FIBER SHAFT A BAD IDEA?

You just need to be careful that what ever you put onto the shaft does not have any long term detrimental effects on the resin that is binding the fibres. Clearly with the Pechauer shafts, it must be OK. My recommendation is to just use IPA only. Methanol over time does break down a lot of epoxy...

Designing a Benchtop Epoxy Granite CNC

When I talked to a machine builder a few weeks ago, they move the rail to ensure it is fastened in a straight line and is also shimmed in the vertical axis as well. Said it was important for the steel rail to be secured to either a steel or cast frame. The second rail is then fastened to be...

    Magnetic scale and reader head

Has anyone installed and use the magnetic strip and reader heads on any of their manual machines? I just installed a magnetic strip and reader head on my little Myford lathe cross slide. The magnetic scale is embedded into the cross slide with the reader mounted on thd back by the saddle under...

    Dual-tapped shaft

I did a test many years ago with an insert that was tapped with both thread forms. All it does, is it takes away the effective thread of engagement. The 5/16-14 insert will need to be opened up to take the 18 tpi thread, and lowers the engagement of the thread. It may as well be only around 1...

    Loctite Gel

Does anybody use Cationic adhesives, or UV cured adhesives for tips at all? Some are near optically clear etc. Permabond have a series that look interesting. https://www.permabond.com/resource-center/cationic-epoxy-uv-adhesives-cure-with-uv-light-or-heat-or-both/
