Has anybody ever tried to play with- or make a tip like this?

Hi Rick, You're kinda saying what I said. In that a divot or concave tip could hit center of CB, relative to the bridge point. This center though, won't accord to the line of cue movement, which will push in a direction that passes to the side of actual CCB. It gets complex to describe. And...

    How about Skyler!?

Also impressed by Skyler's cool and focused manner. Have seen some of the legends of the game turn to a bundle of nerves in this cup over the years. To know that one's career might be remembered by a bad 1-off Mosconi Cup appearance is a lot to fade. Kudos to him for looking like one of the...

    Corey deuel

Corey's very much a feel player, and spectacular when in his groove and letting out his stroke. This format and the tight pockets do not suit him. That said, I think his shot to launch the CB onto the rail to gain shape is the shot of the cup.

Mosconi Cup 2015, Boyes: 'Disappointed if we aren't partying on Wednesday!'

I'm not sure if it's defined in the rules, but to use the CB to measure where one is actually placing it ought not be a foul imho. Karl could have been more sympathetic to Ken's plight I think. He made a mistake and humbly attempted to correct it and appease all the relevant parties. I guess...

Mosconi Cup 2015, Boyes: 'Disappointed if we aren't partying on Wednesday!'

Hope you do that Darren, would be a must read. Collect all the dates, achievements, anecdotes and get a ghost writer to put it all together. Cheers, Colin

    *** Mosconi Cup 2015 Updates Thread ***

Granted, it was unfortunate, but top players out to either 1. Smack that shot harder, 2. Play it with gearing outside or 3. Play it with considerable inside.... in order to mostly negate the potential effects of a kick. That is a sucker shot for bad contacts and one is playing for luck to soft...

Has anybody ever tried to play with- or make a tip like this?

Hi Rick, I'm guessing at 4mm offset, the contact point is pretty much where it normally is, between tip and CB, unless the concave section is very large. A useful thought experiment is a 20mm diameter perfectly flat tip. If one aims to CCB but accidentally misses the aim point on the CB by...

ABR SPECIAL REPORT: Mosconi Cup Battle Begins

Could you ask them their thoughts on the table? Rails seem dead and pockets are tight... and is this a part of why players are struggling with the break?

Quickest path for improvement: Drills, ghost or a mix of both?

Playing the Ghost is just another drill. There are almost infinite drills that can be developed to both improve certain skill sets and measure one's performance or progress at them. Learning also requires experimentation of various aspects, be it, specific shot you've seen and want to play...

I took the Billiard University exams, and will continue to do so, love them!

A time comes, when looking upon past glories with rose tainted glasses, and imagining reflections of such visions in our current play, is more amenable than suffering the arduousness of hard regimented practice and focusing a lens upon our current form. ;)

Free feeds, if you can endure the pop-ups and find the x marks to close the ads, appear here each day: http://www.sportstream.tv/?source=3 Search "Mosconi" I've been having some issues with livesport.tv regarding them allowing access to services I've paid for, hence sought out the free feeds.

Good stuff, It's a great program and test. Doing this and other test challenges regularly will track real v imagined improvements, strengths and weaknesses and prepare you for competitive play. Colin

Has anybody ever tried to play with- or make a tip like this?

It's an interesting concept, and I've thought about aspects of concave tip sections previously. Even shaped concave edges to see if I could hit further off center, but rough experiments showed no benefit. Some things to consider: By shaping the center area of the tip in this concave shape, if...

Mosconi Cup 2015 - My Expectations

I expect a closer result this year, and will be quietly barracking for the US team, though I suspect my loyalties will change if it goes down to the last couple of matches. My DNA got stamped by supporting the Europeans... well, most fellow Commonwealthers from UK, back in the early days...

UK Snooker Championship Finals - Neil Robertson vs Wenbo

Here's the 147 break.... hot off the presses: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSbPd6P-juE He received 4 points for a foul prior to the 147, making it a very rare 150+ score. His potting and position is scary good at the moment. Arguably the best pot & positional player of all time based on his...

Dominant eye or train to see what you see

Some observations and thoughts: One of the big advantages of snooker chin on cue alignment is that it generates a pretty consistent eye position relative to cue alignment. That said, it makes vision of cut angle alignment more challenging at times. This is provided the cue touches the near the...

Who has the most fundamentally sound stroke?

I'd ask, "Who positions their bridge best?" Because the smoothest stroke in the world ain't worth crap if you can't put the bridge in the correct position, and those who are great at putting their bridge in the right position, tend to stroke the shot in a more relaxed manner. Stroke controls...

Do you imagine Pool in School?

I'd suggest learning the deeper history of the schooling philosophy as used in the US and most of the west, which originated in Prussia. It was designed to brainwash people mainly, and make them automatons with skills in memorization of told facts rather than abilities to solve problems. Twice...

    Is Pool a Sport?

Pool is WAR in the minds of bar bangers! Pool is an ART in the minds of aficionados! Pool is a GAME in the minds of enthusiasts! Pool is a VOCATION for the elite! Pool is a SPORT for the physically challenged! But above all, pool is, what it seems to be for the person who plays it! Colin
