    Break

Although it has been a while I remember the break I was most fond of was a firm second corner ball break with outside english to bring the cue ball above the blue and back to behind the green/brown. I have played a number of players that loved the thin corner ball break. As the second to shoot...

    2,000,000 + Balls. How many....

Imagine how many Grady must have hit! Wow. That would be a scary number. Especially when you consider how much each one was worth!

Once you truly understand centre ball hits and can control it, start moving over by as small a fraction as possible and see the difference. A good way to learn it to set up a shot, OB on the spot and Cb about a foot away straight into the pocket. Aim the OB to hit dead centre and hit the shot...

    A technical question

Just look at the closest point of the ball towards the rail. Is it touching? No. Not frozen.

    OB Shafts...how good are they

I agree with PSA. Shaft choice is as individual as the tip you play. What feels perfect for one is awful for another. The OB1 is a beautiful shaft, but you need to try one to see if you agree. I play Predator.

All within reason my friend. Those are but two of the many drills I forced myself to do over and over and over. We all make mistakes, but a focused practice session produces better results that just hitting balls. For the record, I can normally hit those shots and leave the CB within a ball of...

    Practice makes perfect.

By perfecting the standard shots you will need to make in a game you will improve your stroke, confidence, and control. Only then will your body and mind be capable of taking on the harder shots. If you practice only tough shots you will, like seymore says, only learn frustration. Trust me...

    Practice makes perfect.

Mike, I have been told that the better the player the more dependant on line and angle the player becomes. The better player uses less english as they usually fall on the proper side of the ball and in correct line so all that is left to do is simply pot the ball and control the speed and...

What is the longest you have played pool straight for?

Given the other thread about how many balls you have hit it made me think. I know there are lots of gamblers on this forum that would have played some serious marathons so I ask this...what is the longest you have played pool straight without reasonable stops for the restroom or food...

Here are the two favourite drills I use and teach to all those looking to improve their games. They are each very important and teach the three things I feel most important in the game...knowledge/understanding, confidence/trust, and mechanics. Drill one: Set up a shot, object ball in the...

    After Market Shaft Stiffness

Personally I play a Predator Z2 and I am confident it is the stiffest shaft on the market given the list you mentioned. I have also hit the OB1. It is noticeably softer in its hit that a Z2 but close to an original 314. I never found it to be whippy in the least. Simply that I had a softer...

    2,000,000 + Balls. How many....

Well I will guarantee I am not in that category but I will take a stab at a guess. 13-20 played 3 days a week about 50 games a day: 62400 20-26 managed a pool hall. Played 7 days a week 8-12 hours a day: 182000 26-28 worked in another two pool rooms: 31200 28-31 play 4 days a week: 62400...

A Question For The Peanut Gallery

I'm starting to think that either Tristan and cplayer are the same person, or they are just best friends sitting at opposite computers laughing with each other. No matter. Continue being idiots. I am done with this thread. Stupidity entertained is stupidity in itself.

A Question For The Peanut Gallery

If my comment about Europe is wrong I apologize. Some of my friends have played there, not me, and they said it was much less humid than here. We normally have over 90% humidity. On a hot day if it is 30 C add in the humity it is like 38 C. You get the point. Even with AC sometimes it isn't...

A Question For The Peanut Gallery

Firstly, no a glove will not improve a players game...unless that player likes it. A glove is equipment. Not everyone likes them. So playing with or without is as individual as the cue you play. Secondly, why would a snooker player use an OB1 when you can get a Paris?

A Question For The Peanut Gallery

Hey cplayer take the thorn out of your ass. Why is it when people on this forum post a question and people give their opinions, to which we are all entitled, there are people like you who just jump on to be an ass. I really find the woofing on this site funny at times, but guys like you really...

A Question For The Peanut Gallery

Ok, here is my 2 cents on gloves. First, why don't you see snooker players using them? My opinion is two parts. One, snooker players almost exclusively use an open bridge and I have found that a glove needs too much adjustment in an open bridge. It is better suited, IMO, to a closed bridge...

    Why Cant Jimmy Wych

I've always pronounces Alex's name Pag-u-lion....hence his nickname. I'm Canadian so I am probably butchering tons of names. For example, here we say his name as Alex "the Lion" Pagulayan eh. :D Here is my only issue with commentators, besides the ones that love to argue on air, is Danny D...
