    Secrets to a killer break

Evgeny Stalev has a really powerful break, as well, for a small guy. His cue is about 45 degrees, similar to Xiao-Ting, except he has an extremely long follow through.

    Secrets to a killer break

Evgeny Stalev, maybe not the top, but certainly surprising considering his size. I don't really know why, it has to be coordination.

    The meaning of Call Shot

I've noticed a lot of ambiguity in the definition of this term locally, as such, I'm petitioning the editor of Ambrose Bierce's DEVIL'S DICTIONARY to include a defition of "call shot". CALL SHOT (adj.) - A term used by barroom pool guru's and table lawyers to indicate that the simple shot you...

    cleaning with lighter fluid

I pray night and day for a sarcastic font. Unfortunately, all my calls to Microsoft are met with, "We're too busy eating crow over this Vista affair!" and "How did you get my home number?" For now, I suppose I'll settle with Palatino Linotype as my sarcastic font... or my porn name... I've yet...

    cleaning with lighter fluid

Here's how you do it: First, soak a large towel in lighter fluid, preferably the type you would use to start a charcoal grill, but anything that has at least three warnings on it saying, "DANGER! FLAMMABLE!". Second, while the shaft is still wet, locate any dings or scratches on the shaft, the...

to those who prefer wood to wood joints?

I don't have it yet, estimated to be here by the end of February/beginning of March. I'll be sure to post up a review after I've gone through a few racks with it. By the way, if you're thinking of ordering one -- even though I don't have mine yet -- I would definitely suggest Mr. Starkey, his...

to those who prefer wood to wood joints?

I've often wondered the same thing. I prefer a wood to wood joint, myself, and recently ordered a cue from Chuck Starkey (desi2960), a forum member who makes cues with a wooden pin, to see how I like it. His prices are very reasonable and his reviews are all very positive, so if this is...

I don't know how you do intros round here...

Talk to Kevin Varney (Varney Cues), Chuck Starkey (desi9260), Brent Hartman (BHQ), or J.W. Petree (Petree Cues) on this board. In that price range any one of them will build you a cue to your specs.

9 ball: how do you improve your saftey game ?

I play a decent safety game, and would offer the following suggestions: 1) At first, focus only on moving either the object ball or the cue ball. If you try to put both of them in very specific spots, it gets difficult. If you can play a stop shot and send the object ball behind something...

    Masse and my epiphany

Hey there, Mr. Neu, I sent you a PM but I'm unsure if you received it or not. Could you tell us/me a little bit about the cue you had Dennis Dieckman build you? I've seen a few pictures of it but I'm unsure of how it operates and what differentiates it from normal masse cues.

What's the best compliment you've ever received about your pool game?

The best compliment I've ever received was from the person who taught me basically everything I know about pool. He never pays compliments, just corrects you when you are wrong. I made what I thought was a decent safety play and he looked at me and said, "Nice shot, Matt." I almost fell down.

Shoot right handed, left eye dominate

I'm the exact opposite -- left handed and right eye dominant. However, I don't tilt my head strangely when shooting. I'll have to look into it a bit further, but I'm almost positive that when I shoot I'm focusing on the contact point with my left eye.

My new Varney J/B & review

    Q. How many disgruntled AZBer's does it take to screw in a lightbulb? A. Three. One to screw it in, a second to post "LOLz he only put the bulb in cuz w/o it we cant see the cuez hes sellin..........lamer kthnxbye." And the third to nod quietly and lend credibility to the second's ignorance.
