    Building a spraybooth

.................... These little motors work great. They turn very slow and have lots of power. My booth is small and holds 3 butts or shafts in any combo needed. I mounted 3 of these with bearings holding the other side of the cues. They spin the perfect speed to spray back and forth the...

    AZ Buildoff Cues

Gracio Review? To answer your question, Yes, same "Gracio". The cues came to an AZ member that ended up not having the time to deal with them so I got stuck doing all of the footwork. The reviews were left with him to send off, upload, or whatever he was supposed to do with them. Several...

    Ivory joint and ferrule

I have some Fossil Walrus Ivory that is a little lighter then Elephant. It has more color and if your customer doesn't mind the subtle differences in color I have some extra.

    Ivory joint and ferrule

The Phenolic's we use are not consistent in hardness. Not sure if everybody has noticed it but when cutting you can feel the difference. I received a double black tube that didn't cut as clean so I did some tone testing and it was nothing like the previous batch I was using. I tone check...

    Ivory joint and ferrule

End mass has a lot to do with deflection. I found this video in my search to learn more about squirt. http://billiards.colostate.edu/high_speed_videos/new/HSVB-47.htm Low deflection is not always better. Low deflection shafts tend to miss cue more.

Cuemakers please post your inlay pictures

I'll talk somebody into that ring style and surprise them with the JP's. Here's another inlay I'm working on. They're in a solid Ivory butt sleeve. I'd show all the inlays but I want Steve to be the first to see the cue. It took 5 layers to get to this point and they're not finished yet. It...

Cuemakers please post your inlay pictures

I edited my last post. I'm adding home switches to CNC I'm building and they'll have many benefits. The problem with CNC machines is they don't allow for human error. That's where the operator needs to adjust for perfection and starting from a home base doesn't work for some inlays.

Cuemakers please post your inlay pictures

Having a home base is great for moving the spindle to work on a cue. It works when working on a blank pallet when all decorations are inlayed and on perfect centers. When inlaying between points or boxes they are never in the exact same position and the start point for each inlay needs to...

cutting inlay pockets with tiny cutters

Each size mill has it's limits on depth and speed. I cut what I think is 70% of the mills breaking point on dark material and slow that down on light colored materials. I never push the endmills. I use the same setting with or without a tool change. On some small inlays I cut the finish...

Oops!! Here are some inlays I screwed up. Look at the cue in the last post and you'll see the mistake.

    Ivory joint and ferrule

The end mass of your shaft has a lot to do with squirt or deflection. Ivory ferrules can add a weight. Non capped and 5/16 tenon can reduce the squirt. Ivory is not consistent in hardness and I think that's where the different opinions about hit come from. I have to disagree with...

Cuemakers please post your inlay pictures

I figured I'd share my technique for centering inlays. It's simple. Position the spindle over the point you want the inlay. Don't spend much time centering perfect because it's never perfect. Start the spindle and slowly lower so it cuts a tiny hole (.010" works great). Move the spindle to...

Thanks for the compliments. The pictures don't show the beauty. I'm tackling 6 of these 360 tribute cues at the same time. This is a big build.

    Is anyone paying attention?

These forums are free advertising highways. The masters don't need to advertise. I've learned from the forums and enjoy sharing my opinion. The KNOW IT ALL'S barking their ways take the fun out of it. I'm not a master but I have lots to share, I'd post more if the threads didn't turn...

    Question about FINISH DRYING TIME

Full cure will be different for each clear. Temperature and thickness make it impossible to give an exact number. 2+ weeks for full cure.
