    The Whole 'Added-Guaranteed' Situation

I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying. Obviously there are tournaments that have added money based on a full field. Those tournaments are showing disclosure, which isn't what I'm talking about at all. I'm talking about saying "$1000 Added Guaranteed", which means that $1000 is...

    The Whole 'Added-Guaranteed' Situation

Not that I'm entirely upset about this, because I understand it now that I've been reading these things for quite some time, but can people please stop posting the whole 'Added Guaranteed' in your tournament announcements when you publicize? I believe it's a blatant lie and completely misleading...

Short rail to long rail kicks.

I would assume everyone here knows, but each table plays differently. I've never understood how some people have these "systems" when new felt always slides, gold crowns are lower to the floor, diamonds have different rails, etc etc. You have to make adjustments, no matter what the equipment is...

2014 ACUI National Collegiate 9-ball Tournament - THIS WEEKEND!

Some schools don't provide funding, so if a student isn't rich, wasting $700 for a cross-country trip to win a $1000-1500 scholarship isn't really great odds for your money. I know it's prestigious, just like playing in the U.S. Amateurs, but sometimes it's financially impossible to make...

    803,712

I've only been playing for 4 years since I first found pool at Virginia Tech...and I can guarantee I've hit over 500,000 (38 games of 9-ball per day). Easily, too. If you're practicing/playing rotation, it's easy to get there.

do you bring your own rack to the bar when you gamble ?

I don't think it makes any difference ... I've seen times where the white diamond point is actually the worst part of it, because it'd leave the 1-ball loose. However, I always use that side unless it doesn't work, which is not very often :)

Tournament Dress Code U.S Vs the World

After I posted earlier, I thought about "Well, Corey plays golf, so he probably has a ton of these types of outfits anyways" and realized my post sounded slightly ignorant -- my bad. You're absolutely right about the golf analogy, no doubt. If you compare the jeans/cut-offs from golfing at...

do you bring your own rack to the bar when you gamble ?

I think you're missing his point, Jason. Don't be offended, I'm sure he doesn't mean any disrespect by it.

Tournament Dress Code U.S Vs the World

That's true, but when have you ever seen Corey at a small bar or amateur tournament? Never. There won't ever be published photos of him online that don't represent that. The only pictures of me online are from the US Open and college tournaments where I'm obviously dressed to impress, but you...

Tournament Dress Code U.S Vs the World

I read through all of these posts, and this might get buried...but you guys should know that dressing nicely isn't what made all of this money appear from nowhere for Snooker. You need to read up on Barry Hearn, as he's responsible for most, if not all, of the promoting and setting the standard...

    2014 International Guangzhou 9-ball Open

It's $11.2k USD, which would put Dennis at ~$65,795, so he's still $10k behind Shane.

do you bring your own rack to the bar when you gamble ?

This is 100% not even remotely close to true. I would be downright embarrassed to walk into a "bar" of all places, with my own equipment (racks/balls/glove, etc). If I was going to a pool hall, I would expect decent equipment. If it was horrible, I might bring a Delta-13, but I don't own one. I...

How long are you there for? I only live 30 minutes away, but I'm in the office until at least 5 today.

$2,000 Added Open 10 Ball Tournament April 11-13 Raleigh NC

Just saw this ... not sure why I was browsing, but I think it went like this: 1. Stevie Moore 2. Mike Davis 3. Norris Brady 4. Me (Corey Sykes) 5/6: Sean Ray and Keith Bennett 7/8: Danny Mastermaker/Mike Fuller

How strong is strong but not too strong

No rating will ever be perfect. The only solution to playing with a "handicap" in one of those tournaments is to NOT play. If you're going to, bite your tongue and if you have an issue with anything, you speak of it after. No T.D. is perfect, nor should you expect them to be. ESPECIALLY at an...

Alex Pagulayan going to UK to try pro snooker

The guy Corey is playing lost in the 3rd round of Event 1 to Duane Jones 4-0. Alex plays the winner of Match 4 (Rd 1), both players lost in the 2nd round in Event 1. I think both of them will get through to the next round here.

What are some of your most memorable moments in billiards?

Just started traveling alot since I graduated college and have been all over the Mid-Atlantic, and recently to Vegas/Cali. I'd have to say my most memorable experience so far would be traveling down to Mississippi and snapped a 64-man tournament off for $5k. Made the 10-hour ride home a lot...

Probably! I would assume he meant the other way around.

Alex Pagulayan going to UK to try pro snooker

Well, yeah, we have a right to correct you ... because the national currency there is a Peso. So if you're in a casino, you're playing with pesos. You won't walk into an American casino and see people playing for pesos -- why? Because that's not the national currency. If you're at a house game...
