    Funny pic/gif thread...

I am slow today... but I finally get it. Clever.

Recommend a pool hall in San Francisco.

There is a good place just across the bay in Berkeley called the Broken Rack. I also drove down to the California Billiards Club and it was definitely worth the drive. Awesome place. Ask for the table (#12?) with the triple-shimmed pockets if you want to make yourself go crazy. Enjoy.

Eye movement question? Cue or Object last?

Recentl,y I am sinking more shots and getting better position by looking at the CB last. Once you "lock in" your chosen aim line for the OB, there is really no reason to look at it again. The OB is not going to move. (If you have chosen the wrong aim line, looking at the OB as you hit won't...

    Glove Or Powder

Come on folks. Grow up. Do golf gloves look silly? Similar glove, but you are stupid to not use one. What about baseball batting gloves? Gloves are great. Cheap, easy to carry, don't get powder everywhere, shafts stay looking like new, table cloth looks new too. Makes sense to me.

What Best Describes Your Attraction to Pool?

I am an addicted C/B player who has a table at home. To me, pool is an instant vacation. Whether I am playing for 10 minutes or an hour, I am oblivious of everything else during that time. I get instant gratification everytime a ball drops - even better if I get position. I am like the...

    *Ironside episode "Side Pocket" *

Pretty clear Mr. Albertson could play. Decent story. Reminded me a little of Pool Hall Junkies. The women's lib and 60's hip dialog was funny.

    Funny pic/gif thread...

Is the dirt bike photo for real? I can understand the front wheel falling off, but how does the back wheel escape the chain? The bottle rocket video is pretty funny.

    Minnesota Fats

I think she looks a lot like Fats, but that is not conclussive. Here at the company of 15,000 employees where I work, I have one of those virtual "twins." Everyone gets us mixed up and we are simply not related.

If you've read my blog, please help me out

I did not know you had a Blog. Thanks for the link, I will drop in from time to time. Nice page design. Can you give us an example of the kind of questions you are soliciting? Philosophical or technical? ...What is the meaning of life? ...What tip do you like best? ...What do you really think...

What is the name of this game?

What is the name of the billiard game that employs t-shaped pegs in the middle of the playing field? Mr. Bond's avatar shows Sean Connery playing the game.

    Tip Hardness Tests

I think your point is "a durometer test does not predict mushrooming." I can go along with that. That does not make a durometer test irrelevant for all purposes. Maybe someone will devise a "mushroom test." Make it repeatable, quantifiable.

    Tip Hardness Tests

A big step in the right direction Thanks, PoolDawg! This is long overdue and greatly appreciated. Please bring more of the same. Quantification tests are needed in many aspects of the equipment. (Let's look at shaft flexibility next.) (Anybody disagree with the results, get your own...

How much is table time in your area?

I did not vote in the poll. Many rooms, especially the ones open long hours, offer different rates throughout the day. Our local Fox and Hound is FREE between 11am and 2pm to attract a lunch crowd, but $10/hour/table at other times. Other than that, the cheapest I have seen off-peak price...

    Iphone/Itouch Apps for pool/billiards List

Don't forget Virtual Pool Mobile Decent game app for low price that is quite challenging and models the physics very well. Career play starts on a small bar box against weak opponents and moves you up to a 9 footer against a computer that hardly misses. You can also play online against...

    New Orleans Pool Rooms

I guess I am a banger (no, of course I am), but when I am not playing at home I sometimes go to the Corner Pocket, mostly because I live nearby. As an alternative, the Fox and Hound in the Elmwood shopping Center on Clearview Blvd (in Harahan, south of the Metairie suburb) has nine 9ft Diamond...

Aiming Systems Of All Kinds..Just don't Work

So, if you really believe that no aiming system works, do you play blindfolded and with your eyes closed? Truth is, every one uses an aiming system, even if it is so old it does not have a name. I agree that some of the CTE debates can be tiresome. There are two reasons for...

Would anyone mind posting a video demonstrating CTE?

I am very interested in CTE. I am not a flamer. It is impressive how Spidey and John Barton so breezily make a variety of shots using CTE. And, I especially appreciate all the effort they have done to try to explain the system. But the laws of physics demand that when the CB contacts the OB...

Looking for opinions on a table

I agree with Klink. The mechanics can tell you quality differences. Also, look into the pocket specifications (cushion angle, shelf depth, vertical angle). They might be similar with these tables, or they might be different, making each more ore less challenging to play on.
