I'm going to be in SF a week or two in mid july.
Gimme some places to play. I'd be glad to meet up with some AZB members too. They don't have to be action rooms, I mostly just need good equipment and friendly atmosphere.

I'd go down to California Family Billiards in Mt. View. Short ride. There is also Family Billiards in SF, but its a little less friendly, more old style, and more action.

Equipment-wise, it doesn't get much better than California Billiards in Mountain View. Family Billiards in SF is also nice if you get one of the tight pocket tables, but its a little crowded and you'll probably have to wait a while for the good tables if you go on a weekend.

Creedo, California Billiard Club is the nuts. It's a short drive just outside Palo Alto: CBC

About ten minutes away is Shoreline Billiards, where Bob Jewett plays out of.

Family Billiards in SF is usually where I end up; they have some nice tight Gold Crowns in the front portion of the room. Pockets must be somewhere in the 4"-4 1/4" range, and they played real nice when I was there a couple of years ago.

Family Billiards without a doubt. Monday and Thursday nights are the tournament nights so if you want to see and play some great pool i would recommend going there

so i'm here in sf and i'll be going to family billiards... anyone who wants to, drop in and shoot. look for a dude with gray shirt n green pants.

Bay Area

Are you going to be around all week and weekend? Are you going to any other rooms like California Billiards (Moutain View) or The Broken Rack (Emeryville)?

Also, there is a big tournament out in Modesto this weekend as well. It will be at Breaktime Billiards in Modesto. I heardTAR will be there streaming the tourney.

f you're staying anywhere in the city (SF), I seriously doubt you will enjoy the minimum 30 minute drive (each way) to CBC.

Family Billiards is in the city, easy to get to, safe, etc., etc.

On the weekends, cmon down to CBC and play on some of the finest tables anywhere.

What are you thinking?

How can you not go to Shoreline where Bob Jewett plays?
He is an icon.
That would be like going to Paris and not seeing the Eiffel Tower.

Please find out if Robert Byrne still plays.Another icon.

howdy guys. i'll be here all week but i have no car. i prolly won't pay 30-50 bucks to cab to a different pool hall. i'd love to meet bob and anyone else from the boards. i was sad when nobody was there today. except 6478947603 asian teens. i shot some cheap racks on a shimmed gc that felt just like a diamond. there was a guy named joseph who shot pretty much exactly my speed. not a bad place.

ps they were dark sorta army green. not creedo avatar green :)

Robert Byrne left Petaluma for Iowa over a decade ago so no luck there...

There is also Edgies in Milpitas that has heated billiard tables.

There is a good place just across the bay in Berkeley called the Broken Rack.

I also drove down to the California Billiards Club and it was definitely worth the drive. Awesome place. Ask for the table (#12?) with the triple-shimmed pockets if you want to make yourself go crazy.

Enjoy.
