    APA skill ranking?

Funky is a very polite way to put it:p Here's a link to my leagues website. If you scan some rosters, you can find a few guys that are ranked 2's. Feel free to shoot a nasty-gram to the L.O.

    APA skill ranking?

My view of sandbaggers is that these guys egos are so fragile and winning is the only way they can feel good about themselves. They don't care that their "wins" are from skewed matches with less-skilled players because their sense of self worth is so low that even cheating is justified in their...

    New ob2 review!

I've had my OB2 for about 4 days. This is what I was looking for, and the manufacturers description is spot-on imo. The hit is firmer, more like a traditional shaft, and doesn't have that over-damped feel. The taper is conical and I'm not quite used to the shaft getting fatter so soon into a...

    this cues crazy

Absolutely, without a doubt junk. A house cue with any sort of tip in it would be preferable to play with. I see these on eBay often and the only reason I do is because, someone somewhere, actually bought one of these. Stop the insanity!!!

    suposedly buska

I stand corrected. The Bushka and Helmstetter cues are Japanese made.

    suposedly buska

No. George did not sign his cues. What that is is a Chinese made Adams cue that has the license to have the likeness of George Balabushkas signature on it. They aren't bad cues, but make no mistake. Goerge Balabushka had nothing to do with it, or any other Adams cue. Edit: If you are...

    Invitation

Thanks for the invite. I agree 100% that anything that we do physically will only see a benefit if we work hard to maintain a fit and healthy physique as well as mind.

    Handling a slump

Some good advice here. I will add that taking your game back to basics and getting back to focusing on one shot at a time has helped me. Make sure your in a positive frame of mind. Get to the table and try a few shots and see what happens. If you're having trouble, stay positive and do a...

    Are Huebler (sp?) cues expensive/valuable?

Heublers are a very well constructed cue. I've always thought they were a little pricier than some of their competition for what you got, as far as aesthetics. My appreciation for cue art started in the early ninetys, when I saw several Joss and Schon cues around my area. The Heublers just...

    Thanks Jim Lee

Awesome! Jim has one of my Schons right now. I can't wait to see it with a new leather wrap.

    schon cue

The folks at Schon are known for making small changes in a particular model. Most Schon dealers will tell you that veneer colors, stains, and ringwork may vary.

    Ivory joint/ferrules

Personally, I consider ivory ferules to be a liability in a playing cue. The higher deflection, maintenance and expense are things I can do without in a cue that I play with on a daily basis. Also, ivory is not as durable in the long term as synthetic materials. Granted there are probably...

    Triangle Tip Question

Pretty much any brand/model of tip can have some degree of inconsistency. Especially non-layered tips. But you are right about Triangle being a harder tip. They are on the hard side of medium. If you like a hard tip, try a Sumo. Currently I have a Hercules hard on my playing cue. It's a...

Are straight-in shots (drills) important to be practiced??

That's it. I will add that I use the long straight shot as a practice drill regularly. If you're not dropping this consistently, you need to figure out why and fix it. This is a fundamental of good pool and should always be one of the things that you are keeping on top of imo.

    low deflection shaft

I know exactly what you mean and it's something that I do a fair bit of. Fact is different shafts handle this shot differently. I mean ALL shafts, not just LD versus normal. Shafts have different tapers, ferrules tips etc., which all affect how the "curve ball" shot works. The point of my...

Tascarella, Skip Weston, Olivier, Richard Harris, Zylr, Gulassy Cues on Sales!!!

Banable?? I must not have taken Bumbay3's post like some of you guys. All he said was the price was steep. And it is, the same way an S class Mercedes is steeply priced. Doesn't mean the car or the cue isn't worth the asking price.

    Diamond Drill ?

Well this sounds like Karen was referring to a particular drill. I'd be very intersted in hearing about this as well. I'm a big fan of drills for honing skills and working on problem areas of my game. I used to be horrible at long straight shots. Then I just started incorporating that into...

    Best 8-Ball Break

I break from the string about 6-8 inches to the right of center. I aim for the center of the head ball as I'm viewing it (as opposed to the center of the ball veiwed dead on, center table). I try to make absolutely sure I'm stroking center cue ball. I follow through keeping the tip in as...

what do you think of tan chalk?

I've been using tan Master chalk for a couple of years now. I have a significant investment in my cues and I want to maintain thier condition as well as I can and a blue or green stain on my shafts is something I'm not willing to allow for the sake of someone elses lack of ability to focus...

    Your Favorite Chalk

I've been using Master chalk in the tan color for about 3 years now. Miscues are more or less a memory and I use hard tips. The tan keeps my hands and shafts stain free. I some times sell a cue and when my shafts are cleaned, waxed and burnished, they look almost new.
