    new boy

Welcome. I'll tell you what I was told when I joined in March. The "search" tab is your friend. This is THE best place on the Internet for anything pool related. You should expect to be wasting many a hour on here:)

    Greatest Shots

Thanks Jay for the quick response. I love hearing your stories and insight of the game. I particularly enjoy hearing you and JoeyA as well as your guests in the booth together. FYI .. I happen to find Sid Waddell pretty entertaining even if I don't understand what he's saying half the time. Lol

Had to cut the slate in half to get this ProAm installed!

Funny you should say that. Have you seen this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRhfcXxM79U&feature=youtube_gdata Sounds intersting, but I don't know how practical for home use. What do you think ?

    vintage pool images

There is a great article written by Mike Shamos in the July issue of Billiard Digest that you need to read. His article has tons of cool old pool photos of some of the legends you were referring to. Some of the sites he lists are www.charlesursitti.com as well as the library of congress at...

Has any pool promoter tried this?

Outdoor pool tables. Maybe not for the whole tournament but say, from the semifinals on? The reason I ask is I saw a world poker tour event somewhere in the carribean. They were under a tent but the sand and ocean backdrop was a nice change of pace. I think it would be pretty cool to see Efren...

Why Exactly Are We Addicted To Pool?

That's a really great question. Broken down into it's simplest form it's a bunch of plastic balls on a slate table that you whack around with a wooden stick. What is there to be addicted to? Yet, we are. I guess the same could be said of any sport. Knowing that you're better than the average guy...

    The pool loft

I visited the pool loft for the first time Monday and was really impressed! From the outside I was honestly expecting it to be a dump( which is probably the reason I've never gone there) but once inside I was really impressed. Ernie was there and raised a suspious brow once I told him I heard...

    Greatest Shots

I don't want to take this thread in another direction but seeing as it's been dead for a few days perhaps you won't mind;) Dr. Dave, as I looked at your site full of great matches I noticed you didn't have the Reyes vs. Bustamante 1999wpc semifinal match. I feel this would be a great addition...

    Greatest Shots

I would agree with the shots that have been posted so far. Here's one from a very tactical game of 8 ball between Reyes and bustamente. Sorry about the length of the video. You should watch it all to appreciate the setup, but the real magic begins to happen around 6:25. A side note: Billy seems...

    chalk color vs table color

Actually that's a pretty good idea to be able to see the chalk easier. Nice!;)

can u realy compete at 50

There's plenty of great poolplayers over the age of 50. The old adage of "you're only as old as you feel" definetly holds true. Do you still feel like you got it? If yes, then you do. Just that simple. That's awesome that you have your own table now. I would suggest 14.1 or 9 ball ghost. Maybe...

Wow! This place looks great. I'm really sorry to hear about your wife. Everyone on here has tried to tackle a remodeling project at some point so I can definetly appreciate all the trips to the store and hard work it took to pull this off. Congrats on the room and going back to work:)
