I remember my first break and run. I was warming up for my Thursday night APA in-house 8-ball league. I was a 3 (it was my first season in the APA, and I didn't really play the game before that point), and I was warming up against a 6 on another team. I broke and started pocketing balls while he was ordering a beer and chatting with some of his team-mates, and gradually the chatting subsided as it became clear that I had a really good chance to get out, despite my meager skill and experience level. His brother teased him about how "the 3's in this league are too tough for you now, John." I finished the run-out (I don't specifically remember the layout at all, but I'm going to guess it was really easy), and announced that was my first ever break-and-run.
The rest of the night, I gradually announced to literally everyone in the league who I was on speaking terms with, and probably several people who I wasn't, that I had started the night with my first break-and-run. I was a little disappointed nobody bought me a beer. APA douchebags.
Anyway, it's a great feeling, isn't it? Someone on AZ once pointed out to me that despite how it is for the jaded pool-savvy crowd here on AZ, to a member of the general public "Watching someone run a rack is like watching someone walk up stairs on their hands." Congrats on doing something most normal people would consider amazing.
