Dean, Will do, I thought I would get in the ball park first and then try it on the backside of one of the skirts. Steve

Dean, Thanks for your number, and I just found your PM. My skirts are the original poplar. I did pick up some pre stain product to help even out blotching. I have not played with it yet so I can't comment on how well it works yet. I've sanded down the skirts and played with a couple trial...

67GT500, By the way, if your table plays half as good as it looks you have a fantastic table! Thanks again for the info, Steve

67GT500 Sorry it took me so long to reply to this thread, I have not checked it for a while. Thank you so much for the stain color, I really appreciate it.:) I'm going to pick some up later this week and give it a try. Steve

    Brunswick Anniversary

Dave, Thanks for the link, good reading. Pretty much the way I did my polishing. Here is one of the bands. Have not taken any after pictures of the castings yet.

Steve, The rails look fantastic. I've read that the Diamond style hold downs work and play much better than the old figure 8 plates. I thought I had all my aluminum polished and now after looking at your pictures I realized I still need to do the counters! You must be thrilled with the results...

    Brunswick Anniversary

Trent, A friend of mine works restoring old 3 piece Speedline wheels and I have seen a few aluminum hoops that he has had clear powder coated. I seem to remember that they had a yelowish cast to them that I personally did not like. Dave, Both you and Bob left them polished, and have not had...

    Brunswick Anniversary

Dean, I don't see why you could not do it that way. My only concern would be the balls hitting the rivet heads. I bet you could figure out a way to get it done. Renegade, Yes, I considered powder coating. I like the look of polished aluminum. I have recently finished polishing the castings and...

Steve, I am also working on an Anniversary and was wondering what stain you used on the aprons and pedestals to match your formica rails? Looking forward to the pictures. Steve

    Brunswick Anniversary

Thanks for the answers guys. I had some scratches that I could not live with. Also the notch formed by the two pieces of the corner castings were sloppy. So I stripped and polished them. I like the polished look and that matches the band on the pedestals which I re-contoured and polished because...

Gang, I was wondering how you finished your aluminum pocket castings after the final polish. Did you leave them natural and polish them on occasion, and if so, how do they hold up? Or did you clear coat or anodize them? How did that work out over time? Thanks for the input, Steve

Need top tips on tips that are tipped for the top.

I second this. Previously had a black Kamui medium which for me had a tendency to glaze over quickly and that resulted in a few untimely miscues. Seemed to need a lot of grooming. Your milage may vary. Steve

    Tonight's learning experience

Thanks 3 and s, you are right, and I am an old guy. Bit tired by the time I got home. Probably a bit pissed as well or I would not have took up the "pen". The band was not really my cup of tea but politically I had to go. I've only been playing 3 years and I guess I'm spoiled as I have never...

    Tonight's learning experience

Tonight I went to an American Legion Post to hear my brother-in-law's band play. As luck would have it, we showed up right when they took a break to eat. I was sitting around, bored out of my mind, when my wife told me they had a pool table in the room next door! I walked over to find a 7'...

what production cues have butt joints for extension?

I liked the idea of having an extension so I drilled and tapped the weight bolt in my Predator, bought an extension and I'm in business. Steve

Apa minis a disaster 3 hour waits 10 hours to complete

I've been to the Southwest challenge a couple of times and the Nationals once. Your experience mirrors mine. One mini that was supposed to start about 5 or 6, I can't recall now, I was starting the last game about 2 am. It would have been the easiest match by far, but I no longer cared. Waiting...
