I've always compared 9 ball to poker in a loose way. At least for the top pros, no one pro can win every tournament. There will always be luck involved. there's luck involved in the breaks, kick shots, and missed balls and that can really make the difference in a relatively tight match. However...

That is fine. It's tough to push when a ball is hanging and I've seen pros do the same shot in multiple occasions.
