    New cloth

Did some research and found out that Simonis bought out Strachan some time ago. Although they are well known to make Snooker cloth, I guess they also make pool table cloth now. ‘UPDATE: They finished the first couple tables - My buddy who is a very good player just communicated that he...

    New cloth

One of the pool halls here is recovering their ten tables with a cloth called “Strachan Superweave”. None of us have ever heard of it - so wondering what it is going to play like. Does anyone here know anything about it? We hope it plays similar to Simonis 860

Finally ripped the horrible tip off.

I’ve been using a Phoenix shaft for a couple years and really like it. My favorite two tips are either a Predator Victory medium or a G2 medium - they are very similar.

C/F shaft and what not to do!

I use that tool - but only use the nickel and dime sandpaper shaper. It works well just for that if it is done the right way. But I agree - will do damage if used for burnishing or anything else.

What's the smallest, lightest Aramith cueball?

Yes - this is a common sight with worn cue balls, especially red circles, in pool halls. When new, different types of Aramith cue balls are generally very uniform at about 5.9 oz. As cueballs get worn down they get lighter, and Aramith red circle cue balls seem to wear and get lighter and...

    Marking your cue

I have marked different shafts with a pencil many times - after the mark wears off, nothing has ever remained visible.

    Tips holding their shape

Well - yes - it won’t result in a flat tip, but if you chalk like most do before every shot in a drilling fashion, the abrasive quality of the chalk will eventually slightly wear on the leather and flatten the contour. Your dime shape will flatten to a nickel a lot faster than if chalking...

Ernesto Dominguez: Still doing table work in the Los Angeles area?

A slight clarification/correction: WPA cut angle is 142°plus or minus 1°. Technically there is are no more “BCA“ rules - the current BCAPL/CSI cut angle specification is 141° plus or minus 1° and BCAPL/CSI pocket size is 4.5” plus or minus 1/16”

    Tips holding their shape

I believe how one chalks their tip affects how long a dime or nickel type contour will last. Since chalk is abrasive - those that use a drilling technique will tend to flatten the tip( if your wear a deep hole in the chalk cube and/or get a lot of chalk stain on the ferrule - you might want to...

Pool stuff you bought🤮, tried or used, and said never again.🤮

I agree that the mushroom trimming feature of this ultimate tip tool does not work, but I like it for the nickel and dime sandpaper shaper feature.

Magic Rack not holding balls tight

In my experience Magic racks do not do well with worn balls that are slightly smaller from wear. The Accu Rack will do better in that case. It’s possible that you might have gotten a defective Magic Rack( is it a real Magic Rack and not the thinner Chinese knockoff), but chance are that if you...

old Dick van Dyke series with pool in it

Haha - on the first break shot playing 8 ball - the 8 ball was racked on the lower corner - no wonder it goes in on a weak break😀

Quick project with an old set of pool balls

Here are a couple photos of the scoring balls that I attached to my Diamond light. Got a set of 1” balls, drilled a hole through the center, and used 1/16” wire cable and a turnbuckle plus hardware to attach.

    Marking Simonis

Most markings are for the purpose of showing the outside of the rack outline to aid in playing 14.1/Straight Pool. I also mark a line from the footspot that aids in spotting balls and racking accurately. Not necessary at all, but I also like to draw a line across at the second diamond to...

Diamond 9’ Pro with Leveling System

Question for a friend who has a Diamond Pro with the multi point leveling system. The problem is that when rolling balls toward the foot end corner pockets, the balls roll slightly inward toward the center of table from both sides. Lowering a foot end corner leg will fix that side but make...
