Thanks! We have a bunch of photos in Alf's book. I forgot to mention that you can get the book from his Website: alftaylor.com

One AZ member gets some nice words from another AZ member

In the November, 2012 issue of Billiards Digest, the noted pool writer George Fels reviewed several DVDs and books. Fels mentioned that there had been “a spate of self-published, first-person accounts of players’ hustling days.” After mentioning a couple of such books, Mr. Fels goes on to say...

Praise for Alf's book from Astronaut Woody Spring

A couple of weeks back Alf was waiting on a customer in his Moroccan rug store and learned that the customer was Woody Spring. Woody was a test pilot, astronaut, and highly decorated military man. Alf gave him a copy of his book and just today Alf sent me Woody's reaction to the read. Here's the...

    Alvin Thomas "Titanic Thompson" stories?

I think Kevin's book is the best biography of Titanic. If you check the paperback edition of Kevin's book, you can read about how Alfie Taylor and I beat Titanic on a card proposition.

    Knocker on board. Listen up

So does this mean you are keeping your day job and not going back to hustling pool? By the way, I posted a link to your video on your rug collection in another thread, but maybe I just also put the link here => http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aShd5K3KMQ

What Alfie Taylor does to support his pool projects

If you have read Alf's book, The Other Side of the Road, or if you plan to, here is a little video that shows another side of Alf's life. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aShd5K3KMQ

    surfer rod curry?

Hey Rod, I think you were in Dallas, at Cotton Bowling Palace, back in the mid 1960s. I seem to recall you getting into a physical altercation with a local tush hog named Vernon Litton. Vernon died last year at age 82. Just wondering if you recall the incident. Here's a pic of Vernon with one...

    Sad Day In CT . . .

Sadly, there will probably be no comparable place to replace the one that has closed. Don't know what I'd do if my local spot closed down as there is no other place within 25 miles worth going to.

AZ member screwed by Bill Stroud of Josswest

I was first around Bill in 1962 at Cotton Bowling Palace in Dallas, TX. In the 50 years since then, he doesn't seem to have changed much. He still plays a strong game of pool, he's still very bright, and he's still pretty arrogant. If he apologizes to the winner of the contest, it will be the...

    AZ Authors and their books

I just talked to... Just talked to Alf. He is back in Las Vegas, at the Bally, for another pool tournament. If you are out there, even if you don't want to buy a book, stop by and say "hi" to Alf.

    AZ Authors and their books

I just got some photos from Sydney LeBlanc, Robert's sister. They show three AZ members who have recently authored books. From left to right, here is Jay Helfert (Pool Wars), Alf Taylor (The Other Side of the Road), and Robert LeBlanc (Confessions of a Pool Hustler). So AZ'ers, support our...

    The HolyGrail of cues?

Yep, I was going to mention that cue. And as a matter of fact, it may be up for sale in the near future. If you have any thoughts about the best way to handle such a sale (auction?), shoot me a PM.

Get an autographed copy of the Alf Taylor book and a photo with the author!

Thanks for the kind words, guys! Do us a favor and tell some people to stop by and chat with Alf and Dick. They both have great stories from what is arguably the most interesting era of American pool. Oh, and they have a stack of books as well. And DVDs. And Moroccan rugs!:smile::smile:

To create a great pool-related non-fiction book -- what's the topic of the book?

I know you must mean Keith McCready as number one, but do you mean Billy Incardona for number two? And number three? Robin Dodson? Eddie Robin? Yep, for me, the hustler scene in the 60s and 70s (and not just in L.A.) was the most interesting era of American pool.

    Onyx tips......

Thumbs up from me I just got a new shaft from Jacoby and had them install an Onyx tip instead of their standard, which I think is an Everest. It plays as well as any tip I have tried and better than most. No miscues, holds its shape, and just seems to grab the cue ball better than most tips...

To create a great pool-related non-fiction book -- what's the topic of the book?

OK, I AM impressed! I am very impressed with the excellent ideas already put forth in this thread. And I want to assure you that an excellent writer (not me!) will be looking at your posts and may develop one or more of the ideas into a book. Knowing the writer as I do, I am confident that he...
