Sorry to have to report that my home room has just closed their doors.

Blue Cube Billiards and Lounge in Orange, CT has closed. They, like many others, fell victim to the tough economy and the general decline in interest in our sport.

There was a great and tight group of 'regulars' at 'The Cube' whom I will miss seeing there very much. Nothing can substitute for the endless hours of fun and hijinx we enjoyed on table 4.

My very close friend, fishing buddy, and Blue Cube's owner, Dan, has my heartfelt gratitude for making me, and many others, feel at home in his top-notch club for the past 8 1/2 years.

This was a very upscale and beautiful place to play. It will undoubtedly be missed by many.

Best,

Sorry to hear about your homeroom closing. I remember when a room that 4 of us met at and played 3 cushion billiards on table #2 for 4 years closed. While we all found another room to play at, we all went in different directions. I quit 3 cushion shortly after that. Johnnyt

Sorry to hear about your room closing.

I've seen more than a few over the years close or turn to such a state of disrepair that they need to be shut down.

At least we have tables at home to play on.

Sadly, there will probably be no comparable place to replace the one that has closed. Don't know what I'd do if my local spot closed down as there is no other place within 25 miles worth going to.

That's too bad. Most definitely a beautiful room. IIRC, that room was one of the top new rooms in one of the magazines back when it opened.

I always enjoyed playing there. But since I have moved, I have not been there in a few years.

That's awful news. Happened to me too, eventually I moved and now I'm blessed with options. Hope you can find a new home away from home.

here were some of the press comments and the "Blue Cube" website.

Gonna miss this place.

"One of the best billiard clubs in America" - Billiard Digest Magazine

"Blue Cube ranks among the nation’s best billiard clubs" - Play Magazine

"An upscale Manhattan feel without the Manhattan attitude" - The New Haven Register

"Pool halls are making a resurgence as swanky destinations and leading the pack is Blue Cube Billiards & Lounge in Orange. Blue Cube is a pool hall in designer clothing. We are talking about martinis, fancy blue drinks and sexy light fixtures ... in other words, swanky. And, oh yeah, they have pool too. This is the kind of place you'd imagine Jeanette Lee also know as the 'Black Widow' hanging out. Class, class, class." - Play Magazine
