Ok, do pros play on equipment that allows for easier draw?

...because i was just watching a 2017 US Open match (8 ball) on utube where Van Boening hit a behind the back power draw the entire length of the table! I know these guys have great strokes and all but that seems pretty extreme to me. He looked very uncomfortable and still drew from the corner...

You can't help most people get better at pool.

Thanks for the additional advice. I'll definitely check out Appleton's drills. Last night i purchased a kindle book called "cue ball cheat sheet". I only tried a couple of the set ups but it looks very interesting and i look forward working on it some more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You can't help most people get better at pool.

Ok. I'm reporting back. It's been 7 days and I've been doing drill #1 every day to start my 60 minute session (I shot 30-40 straight-ins to start every practice session). Did it help? I'm sure it did, but I don't think any more than doing it with my eyes open as I usually do. I can't be...

Is Championship cloth faster than simonis 860?

My table is an 8 ft Vitalie. Thank you for your response. Unfortunately i don't have a way of finding out what particular championship cloth it is. So i'll just keep it until its worn enough that it actually REQUIRES replacing. Edit: I would however guess that they wouldve installed whatever...

Is Championship cloth faster than simonis 860?

I dont know. I just remember asking the dealer what cloth it was and he told me championship. This was about 7 yrs ago. And the receipt doesn't state what cloth it is either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Is Championship cloth faster than simonis 860?

Is Championship cloth faster than simonis 860?

I've been considering replacing my home table's cloth (i was told it was championship) with simonis 860. Not that my cloth is old, it has plenty of life left, i've just heard that simonis is the best. I was told that a nearby poolhall had simonis 860 on their tables so i went to try it, but i...

You can't help most people get better at pool.

Thanks. I start all my practice sessions with 20-30 long straight-ins. I actually made it a point of keeping track of the count last month to see how long it takes me to get to 3,000. So for the next week i will do them as u described in #1. I tried 30 right now and made 9/10 stop shots 9/10...

You can't help most people get better at pool.

Well 5 pages in and im still waiting for some guidance. So far i've just gotten that i need to go and compete. If i have 60 minutes a day to practice, how would u suggest I invest that time to improve? Aside from taking lessons what do u suggest? (I do have scott and randy's spf dvds and...

    Just a recreational player

I was at the driving range once with this guy I play with occasionally and I shared that I was considering upgrading from my sports store starter set to a more serious set of irons. He replies " think about it...a new set of clubs isn't gonna make you any better. A couple of weeks later I find...

    Suggestions for practice balls

I think the reason he wants a cheaper set of balls is because the drill requires u to use the object balls as a cue ball. And he's worried about the beating the object balls are gonna take (i had the same concern btw) if you're having to hit 3,000 shots. (I think thats what Tor suggests if i...

What runs would you expect under these conditions?

Actually, i'd be very interested in seeing a 40 ball run from a non-pro pool player. My high run is 9 so....yea. I hope u get a chance to upload it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    What Killed Straight Pool?

IMO it's that straight pool can be boring to the casual viewer. Especially when compared to 9ball. In 9 ball the cue ball travels long distances and bounces off many rails from shot to shot. And 14.1 (when played well) is minimal cue ball movement with "simple-looking" shots. Just a thought...

Hello everyone. I'm looking for my first table.

Agree with the others. Try to buy used. There should be plenty of options on CL. I have a vitalie that i purchased several yrs ago brand new for $2,600 and when i tried to sell it on CL the highest offer i received was $600. There were plenty of tables selling for that price on CL. Maybe not as...

ideas for an "over the counter" Ball Polish/Cleaner

Is it ok to use turtle wax 'clean & shine'? Its a spray bottle and it says it's meant for glass, plastic and chrome wheels. Ive used it twice and it cleans them and shines very nicely. But after reading several threads on this subject i see that wax is not recommended. Can a spray bottle also...
