    my thoughts

Yeah that is definitely something I've noticed over the years. Many pool players have terrible attitudes, not just while playing, but about life in general. But it should go without saying that spending so much time indoors on a pool table isn't exactly the best primer for a mentally healthy and...

    Deflection (harder tip)

I was just trying to get a laugh out of you ;) I respect Dr Dave's opinion very much, and I also respect the opinion of most people here on AZ; but on this subject I'm pretty set in stone, as I have changed back and forth between soft and very hard tips many times on my main playing shaft to...

    Deflection (harder tip)

Let me also say that the difference is squirt is not major, but it is noticeable.

    Deflection (harder tip)

Common knowledge, because anyone who has went from a Kamui SS to a Hard on the same shaft back to back will notice an increase in squirt. And if not, they are not hitting the ball hard enough to really squirt it or they are not much of a player... I don't understand how it is not common sense...

Practice Makes Perfect... No Not Really.

Woah woah I didn't say that, and I do practice safeties. I try to practice everything that comes up in a game. I'm just saying that through practicing some slam ball, I am as comfortable with my power stroke as I am rolling the ball, and that is obviously a beneficial trait to have in your game...

Practice Makes Perfect... No Not Really.

First off I should say I don't think I'd be an A player on a fullsize table, I have not played on a 9 footer enough to consistently get out. I play mostly on 7' foot Diamonds. No books or instructional videos, but I have watched many pro matches on youtube. I learned a ton from watching the top...

    Instantly improve your game!!

I have one to add that helped my game a ton and will probably do wonders for a small group of you. It has earned me the nickname "Winks." My vision is not great and I have trouble seeing the edge of the object ball at distance. I see a blur. Well I recently realized I was actually seeing double...

    Deflection (harder tip)

Harder tips will cause a little more squirt, because a hard tip will compress and bend less than a soft tip. This is considered common knowledge among the players I shoot with, but it is still argued about on AZ for whatever reason.

Practice Makes Perfect... No Not Really.

It depends on the player. I became an APA 7-8 and a BCA A player 2 years after picking up a cue for the first time by being what you call a "Banger." I've tried to spend time practicing as you describe, but all it does for me is make me overly conscious of my mechanics. It hurts the game. I'm a...

    Kamui Tip Questions and Advice

I don't know anyone who stocks them, I think pooldawg might, but your best bet is to post in the wanted/for sale section or just do a search and see if you can find someone selling them. A good hard triangle plays really similar, but has a bit less ping. If you can't find the milk dud try a...

    Kamui Tip Questions and Advice

I think most people sell them for around $10. Or you can buy a whole box of Elks for a couple bucks, pick out the few good ones, soak them in milk overnight, and press them in a vice for a day or two, tight but don't over muscle it. The tip will come out thin flat and ugly, but it will swell...

    Kamui Tip Questions and Advice

Yes I like to hit extremely hard. When I'm practicing, I can't get into it and have fun unless I'm spinning the ball around the table. It's the critical power shots that we miss, so I like to practice my big stroke as much as possible. And watching the cue ball curve around and reverse is just...

    Kamui Tip Questions and Advice

Try a pressed elkmaster. Holds it shape better than any tip I've tried and hits hard like a hard Kamui brown but you get that single layer tip action. A super soft Kamui will last you a month if you have a big stroke. They squish bad and you'll be shaping it constantly. I've had major issues...

Who is the all-time, best shape player?

I agree with buddy hall but I'm young and have not had the pleasure of watching the legends. Best get-back-in-shape player? Larry Nevel. His power stroke is just a gear above the other top players today.

What percent of the time will a pro runout playing 8-ball on a 7' Valley table?

On a 7' valley, I'll have nights where I break and run or table run 50% or more. Then there are nights where I might only run 1 or 2 of 10 racks. I'd say on average I get out 15-20% of the time from the break, and probably 30-40% from an opponents miss. I'm nowhere near a pro, currently an APA...

Run this rack and win $100 >>>

Wish I had a video camera or a fancy phone! 1 ball in the left corner, spin two rails staying below the 3 and bump the 4. Then the rack is open and sitting pretty easy. Ran it my 2nd and 5th try and I'm only an A. I'm sure by now someone has won the 100. Cool challenge. Edit: Just read the...

    just cheating???

If the cue ball grazed the ten, it would have deflected off toward the rail and he would have missed the one, as he was not jumping the ten full. It seems obvious, but I guess not.

    BilliardsNBagels in Gresham Oregon

I didn't know him, but I do miss Billiards and Bagels. From what I've heard, he was a great guy and we need more people like him.
