Had to move and can't finish my cue.

Chris, I'm not throwing in the towel yet but work is suspended for now. I may be parting with some wood to make the next move easier. My curly oak is staying though. As for which generation shaft, I have no idea. It will be my first. The joint is solid black and will have 5/16-14 screw.

Had to move and can't finish my cue.

I was done with the construction of a butt but had to move. It is slightly out of round. (I thought I tracked the problem down but I was mistaken.) What would you charge to make it round and finish with a Z2 shaft? Remember, PM only. Also, I am in Columbus, Ohio now.

14.1 not fair both players should be given a chance to run balls

They know the risks walking in the door. Unlike you, they had their big boy pants on. If a player practices his lag, he has better odds of winning the lag. If he then attempts a high risk shot for his first shot, he will reap what he sows, regardless of wether it is pocketed or not. It's a lot...

    phenolic resin tips popping off

Me too, but not everybody has my fingers. When I worked on the assembly line at Nissan, my hands ached often. This would be a perfect technique for addressing that issue.

What affects the hit of a cue the most?

Don't forget that weight of the cue will also effect the felt shockwave from hitting the ball. For every force action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. As weight increases, the sharpness of the felt recoil reduces.

Yeah, facing it with the lathe is a new one, but I don't see it as a bad idea. It would certainly save fingers and sandpaper.

    Why only Stainless Steel joints?

Per its application in a cue, stainless should never corrode. Other steels are less resistant to corrosion.

    Question about North American woods

There are some awesome woods with as much figure as you could want on this continent. Oak, hickory, and maple are 3 easy picks. For appearance, good luck beating black walnut crotch wood. Check the recent post titled 'local wood'.
