What's the most interesting sore loser stories you've witnessed?

Pete's Wife This one's a little off topic, but it's pretty damn funny. My buddy Pete, an ex Navy guy that I used to play pool with regularly came to the pool room one night. He said he wife was really mad at him. He said that all he did was tell his wife that he was going to out and play...

What's the most interesting sore loser stories you've witnessed?

A really good player told me that he beat a guy out of a bunch of money in 9-ball, and the guy got so mad he punched himself in the jaw so hard that he knocked himself out. I don't know whether I believe that one but it was funny as hell picturing that happening.

What's the most interesting sore loser stories you've witnessed?

Walter's Wife was a Sore Loser I just thought of another one. Several years ago, I played in a bowling league. I was making side bets involving my teammates and winning. Another one of the league players, Walter, took exception to this. He was mad because I was 'winning money and not doing...

What's the most interesting sore loser stories you've witnessed?

I beat a guy out of $100 one night and he got so mad he kicked a bench and broke is big toe. I also had a guy slam his shaft on the floor and shatter it during the middle of a match.

    How Common is Hill-Hill, let's re-flip?

I've gambled quite successfully, in pool and poker. If it's a race to 10 and this happens, tough. Sometimes you get unlucky when you gamble. If you can't handle bad beats, you shouldn't be gambling. Just like in poker. One possible solution to this problem would be to play a race to 10, 2...

    Constructive critique

    1) Sometimes the equipment is bad and does cause you to lose. Sometimes the equipment is just as substandard as, say, this message board's quote feature. That thing pisses me off every time I try to quote somebody and it's not my fault that it's so cumbersome and non user friendly...

9 Ball break, Foul or no?

I agree. The cue ball goes directly into the 8. It doesn't thin the 1. It's a foul.

9 Ball break, Foul or no?

I played it in slow motion with Windows Media Player. It's very hard to call but I think the cue ball hits the 8 ball first, and does not thin the 1 ball before hitting the 8 ball. I say it's a foul.

    How Common is Hill-Hill, let's re-flip?

I guess if you're playing a race to 2, hill hill happens all the time. The shorter the race, the more common it is. If you're playing a long enough race, this shouldn't be necessary. If this is a problem, you probably should play race to whatever, 2 ahead if you can't handle hill hill.

This Aiming System Crap is Killing Me

Some aiming systems and other systems work pretty good if you take the time to practice them and learn how to properly use them. Systems have won matches for me.

    How far do you drive

I drove an 80 mile round trip from home to play in an 8-ball tournament Sunday. It's the pool room where I usually play. I work real close but sometimes make the long trip from home to play there.

    Thin Cut Shots

I think you're right. That slight skid is magnified on a long, thin cut shot, so when you're cutting balls real thin, it makes a pretty big difference. I won an 8-ball tournament by using this technique on a thin cut shot in a critical game. I had 1 stripe left and my opponent was on the 8...

    I Heard Something Very Odd

I've had teammates do this before and I couldn't stop em because they had on the headphones and couldn't hear.

    I Heard Something Very Odd

Sometimes your opponent or teammates need to get your attention. Like if they want a referee to watch the shot, you're shooting the wrong ball, or you have a 6 or 7 who likes to call time outs on you. The headphones kind of screw that up, so unlike many of their rules, that one makes a little...

I'm a skill level 4 but I play like an 8 and you ain't got a chance when you're givin' that much weight. ;)

A System vs Hitting a lot of balls

If I'm playing really good and in stroke, I don't need a system. If I'm struggling or have a big pressure shot or just have a tough shot, I prefer to have a system to fall back on. I don't relying on feel or just guessing if I don't feel really good about the shot. I play a lot of systems...

    S.A.M. Question for SPF Instructors

Thanks, Steve. That's pretty much what I noticed was happening for me. I hate those over sized bar box cue balls too.

    Thin Cut Shots

Thanks for the reply. I've watched a lot of accu-stats videos and although I enjoy Grady Mathews commentary very much, I find that he is usually not a reliable source of accurate information. :D He does have some great kicking systems, though.

    Thin Cut Shots

That's very similar to what he told me. Lowering the butt of your cue prevents this effect. Thanks!
