US Open - All ball fouls while removing rack?

In one of his matches, Shane moved the 9 ball as he removed the 'rack.' I think it was in the Bergman match, on the tv table, but the ref didn't see it. Shane kinda gestured to whoever was his opponent, and he slightly rocked the 9 ball back into the position it was at before the rack moved it...

Shane calls a foul on himself

Yes that's all correct, and I agree. My only point was that he didn't call it on himself and give it up all in one moment. There was the delay because the ref was busy, and then only after the ref's confirmation did he then put the cue ball in the hole. Like in the garden of Gethsamane, he...

Shane calls a foul on himself

If you saw it, you should have corrected the story narrative just a little. Shane did NOT make the foul with the bridge and then immediately do anything with the cue ball, I don't think. He appeared to say something to Corey, and then went over to wait for the referee who was handling some...

    The Greeks

Their match was going on right behind me (I was in the top row of the pit in the Jacoby section), but I was focusing on Shane's match. I was checking in with the live scoring on the Lucasi sponsored page on my laptop. The Ralf/Nick match was stuck on 8-5 (I think it was) for so long I thought...

    Caption the POTUS

Weed, and uh... a little uh... blow when I could afford it uh..., weren't the only ways I misspent my youth! I'm giving 2-1 on the money, and uh... any of your railbirds have any money left over from your co-responsiblity payment, uh... c'mon git yourself some.

What A Joke 6 Days For 128 players

By car, it's more like 15 minutes.

You're shooting like garbage. How do you break yourself out of it?

That sounds right. Potentially 13 games in a race to 7 (10 games if it's a wipeout) gives many more chances to get another shot, make it, and get shape. Sometimes with an out table. Once you can win that game, once it gets going, you can get in stroke from that confidence and come back because...

Most balls on 10 ball break?

I knew if I could get 4, the monster breakers out there had to have done much more. But seven balls on the break is even more awesome than I could have imagined! Astonishing!

Most balls on 10 ball break?

I have to admit I didn't exactly notice how those 10s went in, just seeing the last few seconds they traveled toward the pocket and fell. I'm fairly sure they were kicked in, after they were kicked out of the rack area. It's normal after my 10 ball break that more than half the balls remaining...

Most balls on 10 ball break?

I don't play 10 ball much, mainly playing 9 ball instead. Nor have I seen much pro tournament 10 ball for comparison. I've recently started playing it more with a certain opponent. The other day, I made four balls, including the 10, on the break. That's my personal record to date. Yesterday I...

    Mosconi Cup Team Announced

I'm guessing, only because it hasn't come up in the thread, that it is not controversial that Mike DeChaine didn't get picked? l'm certainly not familiar enough to know, but I did think he was being strongly considered. What are your thoughts on why/how he didn't get the nod?

The Final 12 at the U.S. Open

They delayed all the prior scheduled flight times including this one by a half hour, because of the HOF dinner. Then they're typically late on the time they say anyway. And these one loss matches are just about tied so they're going longer, except the Dominguez loss at 5. The story endings I'd...

    Shane through

Basically two errors cost him the match-- one on the double hill, but also the first one he made to let Shane start the comeback from down 7-10. The last one on the 6 was simply jarring the ball in the pocket because he'd played a little too much pace on a stop or slight draw shot. The first...

B-I-H fumbled off table into a pocket-- ref call?

I knew about the tip issue, and how it cannot be part of a forward stroke motion. But barring that, the b-i-h player can, in effect, 'scratch' the cue ball, or 'table foul' the cue ball (by swiping it off the table), and so long as the tip in a forward motion wasn't the cause, no harm no foul...

B-I-H fumbled off table into a pocket-- ref call?

This happened to me in a casual game, and I realized I had no idea what the rules would say should be done. My opponent was placing the cue ball to take his b-i-h shot, and manipulating it with his cue shaft. He pushed it toward the side pocket, and it went in, not touching any other ball on...

    Key Words

I use 3 words: able, play, better, said silently and then aloud. It's from one of the Dead Stroke series of hypnotic tapes, one of which suggests that using that as a mantra in a specific way will induce dead stroke. That re-triggers the induced hypnotic suggestion that it will work for that...

    CSI 10 ball

But when a player is taking some time to consider what to do, a non-player, or maybe even a lower caliber player, might not know all that he could be considering. And it's more or less dead air/sight for that time, which can seem endless. I think commentary during that situation is welcome...

Playing By Feel vs. By Calculation?

Whether you get the line for a bank from feel (just looking, I would call it), or a system, you still end up needing the feel because of all the factors already mentioned. Hit it too hard and it will come up short of the pocketing line, hit it too soft, and it will come long of the pocketing...

    Efren v Earl 9-ball - "Call Pocket" ?

If you mean Efren's hill-hill 9 two years ago on the winners' side, he lined that kick up and would have called it where it went if it had been call shot or call nine rules. Somewhat lucky to make it, but it wasn't an accident.

    Late head ball roll off???

It's a Pro-Am Diamond table, very level, and it occurred in the evening when there would be no trucks in the community to vibrate the table. I guess there was a small chalk fragment that finally crumbled, since I've seen that make balls move late for no other apparent reason.
