    Santa Catalina "Fun Zone". When I walk in, the kids step back in respect and whisper to each other, reporting tales of games they claim to have seen me roll. I, of course, am cool about the whole deal and nod to them in recognition.

    Cue Experts I Need your Help HELP

    But isn't a cue dealer tradition? Welcoming a well-heeled new collector into the fold with a foooooocking? Sort of like a new guy being "jumped in" to his gang. Interestingly enough, that great thing I told Phil to do which got him on the track to straightening out his situation, is the same...

    Cue Sales, Attention Buyers and Collectors

    That's no derail. That's exactly on point. All markets are bolstered by comp sales. Like you said, people are way willing to pay fair market, nobody likes to get a bad deal. Its funny in pool, and really it permeates in all areas, where guys think sharing information is somehow bad for them...

    ~~~***For Sale: Excellent 1970s BURTON SPAIN Model 24 POOL CUE Birdseye Shafts***~~~
    Really cool cue with super cool shafts. A rare bird by the rarest of the rare bird makers. In the old days this thread would have been filled with remembrances and stories of the Spain. Now its forbidden (by some rules interpretations) and AZ is better for that? Thanks Kevin
    Cue Sales, Attention Buyers and Collectors
    You know, you got me thinking that the reason the lesser-priced cues are still strong (or stronger than their higher-end big brothers) may just be that that is where the new people entering the market always start. Maybe the high-ticket items are a little slow is because that is where the...
    Cue Sales, Attention Buyers and Collectors
    Jay (thought that was you) Yes that is precisely what happens. Plus. often when a cue actually sells (here at AZ for example) not only is the sales price unknown, but ofttimes the asking price disappears. I know the common answer to "why?" is that the buyers want it that way, but its also...
    ~~~***For sale: 1920s or 30s BRUNSWICK Custom 2 Piece with RING***~~~

    Thanks Dean. One thing about me you can really trust is, that after holding a cue for a week (no auctions this week because they would have ended on Easter Sunday), I get itchy. I'm itchy. Make me an offer peops. Its been a DAY since I've sold a cue. Thanks Kevin

    Cue Sales, Attention Buyers and Collectors

    Tate refers to what values I achieve at auction as "street value" I call it actual cash value. Assuming its a well publicized auction on eBay it will get plenty of looks (astounding numbers really in comparison to other collectibles) and if the seller looks trustworthy (not as much of a...

    Could someone define "taper roll"?

    Its an add on one of your cues.

    Could someone define "taper roll"?

    Taper roll = warp. The term is used by people looking to sell warped shafts that are looking for a different term to use than warp. "Taper roll" is almost always followed by the admonition that "it doesn't effect play at all". As Eric points out, neither Tate or myself build cues.

    Cue Sales, Attention Buyers and Collectors

    Yeah, absolutely the case. There's a ton of great makers doing great work that didn't make it into the upper stratosphere and without the hot market pulling those cues along, there are plenty of deals to be had, especially on playing cues.

    If you are interested in purchasing this cue direct before I get it to auction, I'd be happy to fade the eBay fees. 8 out of 9 of the Palmers I've listed recently have sold within hours of being offered, so think about it if you must. Here's another Palmer that would make a great modern player...
