Any places to play pool for free in Charlotte?...

Why don't you start a thread that says... "Looking for a game in Charlotte"... and then explain that you're going to be in the area... when... and that you'd like to meet and hit some balls with another AZB member with a home table. Betting is optional. That approach might open some doors. Once...

8 foot tables, what's the point of them?

If you play the game of pool extensively, you will shoot on a variety of tables. Some will differ in size, all will differ in the combination of the type of cloth and its current wear condition, all will slightly differ in the rebound-ness of the cushions. Some will not be level. The RH inside...

    what handicap

Spotting balls in the game of 8-ball is not that common. However, getting games on the wire is. So in a race to 7, getting 3 or 4 games on the wire would be a rather sizeble spot.

Playing 8-ball without BIH rules is just inviting trouble imo.

    Weekly Tourneys in Seattle?

Here you go... http://www.onthebreaknews.com/WKBreak8-13.pdf This is a pretty complete listing. Malarkey's in Tacoma has a good reputation. Check it out. I live north of Seattle and don't play in weekly tournaments ever since I bought my home table.

Billiards with The Stars-Joe Rogan Host

Everything starts with an idea. And one idea can certainly spawn another.. and another... and another. Except, an idea that an idea is just an idea.

What is your preferred wrap on your favorite playing cue?

Wrapless for me. Except I have one cue, a Bob Frey 4-pointer that has a smooth shark skin wrap that I really like as well. Unfortunately, the cue was designed to be 57" and even though I have a 30" Z2 shaft on it right now, it is still too short for me at 58.5" so I rarely grab it and shoot...

Sure feels nice to 86 myself from the broken rack!

Take Alex with you and head over to the Buckhorn Grill. It's a short walk. Most everything on the menu is pretty good. If anybody else tries to tag along, tell 'em to go pound sand.

Question Regarding; Cue repair; uneven surface

In my non-cuemaker experience, it's called re-facing... and yes, it can correct the mating of the butt to a shaft.

Curious what the definition of an A player is?

To me, an A player is one who consistently places in the top 3 or 4 of the regional tournaments played across the US. Regional in my case is across the states of WA, OR, ID, and BC, Canada. Regional in the east may be one city like Boston or Philadelphia.

Need advice on a new cue

IMO, you have to be ready for a custom... meaning, to get your money's worth from a playing perspective, you have to already know what you like in a "hit". There are several factors.. for example, the taper and diameter of the shaft. And the ferrule material and length... and the tip, of...

Job help for Mike Davis: A top USA pro Leaving the pro tour

I didn't see Mike's education level stated. Potential employers typically want to know if the person looking to be hired can talk, comprehend, read and write at a H.S. level or higher.

    Chicago. 130 Tables.

I did that tour with my family when I must have been about 10 years old. That would have been in 1959 or close to it. I loved it. We lived in Chicago and were on our summer vacation, which was to go see Mammoth Cave in Kentucky. This was before the interstate road system so it was a long drive...

    BB players Paid !

And that's exactly what happened to me about 10 years ago. A crackhead mom/daughter team got hold of one of my checks and they were off to the races within 24 hours. They ran up bills totally more than $20,000 before being caught. It took me almost a year to clear everything up. It was a...
