    Why people leave the forum.....

    1. I've met Joey and seen him post for 20 years. He's a solid guy in my book. 2. I've never met Lou, but he seems ok to me too. 3. What would really reinvigorate AZB is another $10k or so grudge match. All the pieces seem to be in alignment for a great Joey vs. Lou one pocket race or ahead...

Best pool rooms in Houston, Tx

My flight was delayed so I played a little bit of 1P at the Bogie's by the airport. At least late on a Sunday afternoon, the place was nice. Big, lots of tables and in good condition. Played an old timer four games for cheap and broke even.

Best pool rooms in Houston, Tx

Thanks. Anywhere in the southwest area along 59 from say sharpstown through sugar land?? Or maybe Katy? I'll be in Rosenberg this weekend. Nothing I found online looked promising. Thanks

Are you any good at pool?

If I want to be candid, I usually say that I'm about like a scratch golfer to a 2 handicap, which means I'm better than anyone they know, but not all that good in the grand scheme of things. Most people understand golf handicaps pretty well, so that tends to make the point. Cory

What english is best for the 8-ball second ball break?

I agree about low inside tending to trap the cueball by the foot rail. When I'm not breaking well, and I'm giving someone a spot, I use that strategically. If I make a ball, then even from the foot rail, I can usually find a shot, a safe, or a way to leave only the less attractive suit. If I...

    Is Chicago Bad Action Town?

It's probably semantic, but I think that if you can beat Ike with 9-7 then you do play high level 1P.

    Anybody hate One Pocket?

Most of this is subject to debate or personal opinion, but that last part is crazy. How does 1P "level" the field? A lesser player really *cannot* beat a better player at 1P. Maybe a fluke game out of 20, but not even in a race to 2. I think that's part of why people like the game so much.

Who best to head a new Players org?

I see your point, but bad example. Pool players would kill (figuratively speaking) for this kind of money. How is there so much money in Badminton but not pool? One big issue is that goods in pool are durable: my Diamond table will outlast me, and my 1993 Schon plays better (for me) than any cue...

    Playing sans coffee ?

Been there. Of course, then you need some more beer after the coffee so you can sleep.

    Playing sans coffee ?

I play pool at night, when I switch from coffee to beer. Seems to work for me.

    Challenge Match (Free Stream)

That, plus giving some consideration to which side of the shot line you want the cue ball to end up on.

    Anybody hate One Pocket?

I'm sure someone has already said this, but I think you really have to be at a reasonably decent level of skill before you're going to be able to have fun playing OR watching one pocket. Roughly, IMO, at the level where you're not surprised or excited to break and run a rack of 8 ball on a 9'...

What do you want to see in SloMo?

I am very disappointed in the entire AZB community. I expected a much more puerile set of responses to SloMo's inquiry.

What's with all the low-balling nits???

If I'm a seller and an offer is too low, I just say "no, thanks." If I'm a buyer and the price is too high, I just say "no, thanks." This method covers all situations and I never find myself upset. Try it, it's good for your blood pressure. If saying "no thanks" is too troublesome, then a...

    Bonus Ball

I liked it too; hopefully the message is accurate, even if Larry doesn't have the best track record on that account. And yes, polo style shirts would be much better for BB 2.0. Nice meeting and playing you last week, Lenny. Cory

    Reyes-Bustamante 8-ball safety battle

There you have it. Playing safe when you have makeable shots is for (1) sissies and (2) magicians. Thanks

    Attn; Jeff Sparks !

People can be different online, but only in one direction it seems. I've never met an in-person jerk who is nice online. The reverse happens all the time.

I can't say one way or the other about the car, but from all the posts at OP.org, plenty of people remember Tall Jeff / Jeff Sparks. So far, present debate aside, all have good things to say. Cory

The End Of An Era in Austin TX

I remember Rod fondly from about 91-93. Went to a few of his clinics, and also the Monday (IIRC) tournaments he ran back then. Here's to a happy retirement! Cory
