The Best Cash Game Player From the US

I think the edge that one player has over another playing for the cash is over rated. There are many good players who excel at playing for the money. Most of the players have to get staked. One who plays for his own all the time will have the edge in large cash matches. Does that bring anyone to...

    Earl Strickland

Paying to watch Earl play is getting old. We have got to find better matches to watch on Pay Per View than Earl. He WAS a great player but those days are behind him. His antics are getting worse and his skill level is greatly diminished.

The Greatest Hustler of all Time

In my opinion Minnesota Fats hustled the game better than anyone and he hustled the game via his tremendous marketing skills as well. Who else could garner a spot on Wide World of Sports than Fatty. By the way, his personal cue went for 50K at an auction house in Houston last month.

The Greatest Hustler of all Time

The greatest hustler at least in the pool world is Terry Bell owner of the APA League. He makes more money off pool than anyone barring all comers. He was a great player in his own right and just made this league a very profitable endeavor.

Billy Incardona Wins Senior One Pocket

It was my pleasure (although not at the time) to lose in the final match to Billy Incardona in the Seniors One Pocket event at Bogies Billiards in Houston this past weekend. We had 24 players for the $2,000 added event. It was an epic match and Billy played fantastic. It is no small...

    Tom Wirth: Controlled Aggression review

Sometimes the negativity on AZB is too much to bear. Listen Tom wrote a book about One Pocket and whether people think it is not worth the price is not a justification to knock the effort Tom put forth to bring the complexities of the game into print. This was no easy task. It takes a lot of...

    Pool family loss

Ron Marshall, longtime friend and excellent nine ball player from the Ventura/Oxnard Ca. area died suddenly this morning of complications from pneumonia. Ron spent a lot of time in the Sacramento Ca. area in the 1980's. I will miss him very much. My love to his wife Linda Marshall and family.

    Diamond Pro

A new Diamond table with leather pockets will mark up the balls for awhile. But eventually it stops. This is a small issue for how well the table plays and if it's a used table it shouldn't be a problem.

How good were Cole Dickson and Mark Tadd?

Mark was an emerging superstar twenty five years ago but never really stayed with the game long enough to full fill his potential. But, he coulda been a serious contender. Cole who I new since he was 15 years old was more of a high stakes in your face action guy. Never practiced and thus...

Diamond Systems don't work on Diamond Tables

Speaking of diamonds, Willie Mosconi did not like to play on Gold Crowns. The Gold Crown was the first Brunswick that had a curved or con vexed rail. He played low to the cue shaft and couldn't see the diamonds (actually spots) on Gold Crowns when he shot. Try it sometime and you'll see what he...

Diamond Systems don't work on Diamond Tables

The "Diamond System" has and always will be a guide to kicking shots. Every player who excelled in the game uses "feel" more than empirically using the diamonds to methodize their shots. I am old enough to remember when felt was used on every table and every table had a long and short roll off...

Would you consider one hundred a set if I bought all five sets?

    The Hustler

I want Fast Eddie's cue. It might be the most valuable cue ever made. I think it's a Rambo? I watched the movie last night (50th) time and I might know the lines better than anyone. Best scene is when Fast Eddie asks Bert to move and Bert moves his chair one inch. Classic touch. My question to...

Not Much Betting On A $100,000 match

I don't think this match will come off as advertised for the amount advertised. It might happen for 5 or 10K but that's about it. Just my opinion.

Cyclop, Super Aramith, or Centennial Balls?

Got back from DCC last week and while I was there a guy had a set of calipers and measured several Cyclops balls and found them to be differently sized. I was very surprised but I had heard this before and now I just don't know what to make of these balls. I'm not sure they have the same quality...

    Another 'really' long story..(my favorite)

I saw Whitey play exactly twice in Los Angeles. He played Hollywood Jack at the old Hollywood and Western pool room and gave him 10 points with three cherries on a tough 5X10 snooker table and took the cash down. They played $20 a game and Whitey had exactly $20 to start with. Jack thought...

    2016 bar table championships

I have gone to the CSI Website and have not found any dates for the Bar Table Championships? The only information posted is TBA. It seems to be getting a little late not to have that information out there. Maybe this event is not going to happen? It's one of my favorites.
