Probably most easily noticed in the butterfly cue. Stacked veneers turned down at an angle showed the construction pretty easily.

My guess is cut from toward the center of the log which would make it a stronger and overall hold from warping and such? Just a little guess though .

It will definitely change the hit of the cue because you will be taking the contact point of the cue down from plastic to a wood tenon with plastic around it other than just solid plastic. So if you like the hit leave it as is!
