Pictures of Ernie Gutierrez's (Ginacue) shop

Ernie is a pretty "picky" guy, I was there last week and he was reworking a piece of the vacuum system that collects the sawdust from the CNC machine. He has that same vacuum system hooked up to every lathe, every sander, etc. There is very little sweeping goin' on. As he alluded to in his...

    how much?

My current player is a Ginacue, no points, BEM with a steel joint and linen wrap...with some fancy abalone rings. Replacement cost around $3,000. I've posted pics in previous threads HERE & HERE if anybody wants to peek. I had THIS "fancy" Gina complete with inlaid shafts before it, but...

AzHousepro, you're slackin'. We need a full time vBookie attendant

I agree about more vBookie events! My vCash is burnin' a hole in my vPocket!! Perhaps we should give the vBookie a small vVig for running the events, I'd even go with smorgies offer, he could buy some vCheeseburgers with his new found fortune...:) Joe

    Help Identifying this cue

This cue belongs to a friend of mine. He has had the cue since about 1986. Ernie Gutierrez (ginacue) rewrapped and refinished the cue sometime along the way. My friend is unsure who the original maker was but thinks it was most likely a Southern California cuemaker of that era. Can anyone...

    34 Billiards in a Row

I heard the same thing about it closing. I was in Vegas a couple of months ago for the World Pool Masters 9-ball event and called to find out. I asked for Frank and the kid who answered the phone said "Frank who", always a bad sign...I said Frank Torres and he said "oh no, he's not here", I...

    Filipino Boycott

I won't comment on the "politics", since it has no place in pool IMHO. I do have a comment on 2 things: 1. My understanding of "sharking" requires your opponent to be at the table, the table was Alex's and he was just being his usual charismatic, enthusiastic self, something pool needs MORE...

    FS: 2003 Southwest Cue

you may also, from time to time, see....snap, snap, snap...a reference to the snapping of fingers, yet another version of the "quiet" appreciation in pool or billiards. Joe

    FS: 2003 Southwest Cue

The "bump", as explained is a "reply" in the thread, which moves it to the top of the forum, allowing it more "exposure". The "tap, tap, tap" is a reference to the "polite" way to recognize a good shot by tapping the butt of your cue on the floor as opposed to clapping or saying good shot. Joe

Hahaha, thanks...but you're gonna hafta wait 'til Monday to call Ernie, I'm sure his knees are draggin' on the pavement in a canyon somewhere. He's an avid sportbike rider and his Saturdays usually include him, his R7, and about 12,000 RPM's......:) Joe

    Recut Points

Can someone explain a "recut point" for me? I often see the term and am not quite sure what it means. I am thinking it's an "inlaid" point as opposed to a splice? Thanks, Joe

Hollywood Jack - One Pocket Org article

I just got an email from AZ's member 1pocket, letting me know that he just completed his coverage at www.onepocket.org of the Hollywood Jack 1-pocket tournament at Hollywood Billiards. The coverage is good and since he flattered me by using a few of my pictures, I thought I would post the link...
