    2 More "Mystery" Cues

Hoping that someone might recognize the signature on it. I sure can't make it out. It's a three piece cue so I am guessing it is a jump/break cue. The date looks like 11/89 to me but I don't remember jump/break cues being common at all back then. The other is some likely inexpensive production...

    Nine ball rules question

Then he gets what he deserves. How can he "realize" anything he wasn't there to see? I just caromed or "slopped" a few balls in. The FIRST thing to learn in pool or anything else is to pay attention and watch the game you are in if it is for anything other than just biffing at balls. I learned...

    Nine ball rules question

Yup! If he had incorrectly shot the 4 ball down and the other player said nothing, and then he went back to the 3 ball and shot it down or even missed it, the other player would have lost his chance to call anything I think?

    Cue advice...

Amen to that! Find a cue that beckons to you to take it out and play with. You'll play more and get better at it if you pay attention at all to what you are doing. You might go through a LOT of expensive cues until you find one with "that" hit you want. I have had a few over the years like...

    Cue ID Assistance

No expert here but the first thing I thought was an old Palmer mostly because of the joint trim and the joint itself.

    A couple "mystery cues"

I have three cues I cannot figure out. The logo on one I can't read and thought someone might recognize it. I dug around the internet and tried various searches of what I thought it might be but didn't come up with anything. it looks like it may be some production cue. The other two have what I...

    Racking and Random Order

If I knew this bugged you that much, I'd be messing with it every time I had to rack!! Maybe even spot you the break so I can rack all the time and get on your nerves!:D 99% of the time we are all just throwing the balls in the rack the fastest way we can to get the next game started.

Eight Ball Legal Shot - BCA Rules

    1. Sort of. You may need some clarification. You must contact a ball of your group first (a rail before that doesn't matter, such as a kick for a ball) and then cause any ball or the cue ball to contact a rail or any object ball to go in a pocket. 2. Yes. 3. Yes. The also question...Yes it is...

    Another ethics thread!

Or, maybe he could have cared less other than you asking about it. I have often let the "lesser player" (aka "contributors") play on after fouling. It is a matter of seeing what they will have to do next. I am always thankful that they now have a hopeless shot at a bad cluster of balls and will...

    cue model numbers

Okay since you asked! I bought it new for $325 I think it was back about 1990 or so. I still have the receipt but would have to take a look at it to be sure. The sticker which I still have stuck to the receipt says it is a Huebler P-SPEC-8 cue. I always guessed the P was for Palmer since it has...

    cue model numbers

In my case ( I have a thread going about a couple of Schon cues) I have looked through all the online catalogs and just must have missed one and didn't find the other anywhere. I also looked through current and completed auctions on Ebay and other dealers to see if I would get lucky and find...

    ID a couple Schon cues?

Yup, cue 5 is. You win the Cupie! I must have overlooked it when I was digging through all the Schon cues. Cue #6 is still a Schon mystery. I don't like the short points it has. I have seen that on other cues once in a while. Looks goofy to me.

    ID a couple Schon cues?

The #5 and 6 cues do clearly have the Schon logos on the butt but you can't see them so well in the picture. I have pics of the butts alone from these these 2 that show the Schon logo. I don't have the cues here but I can get other pictures via email when needed. I'll dig through the Viking...

    ID a couple Schon cues?

5 and 6 are Schon cues. I have all the info on the McDermotts and the Lucasi. They were easy to find in the archived catalogs. Oops! I see I referenced the wrong cue so I edited the first post. Thanks.

    ID a couple Schon cues?

A pool player and good friend died recently. He left 46 cues behind with his son and I am trying to sort out what is there for him. There are two Schon cues I have not been able to find in any of the many old Schon catalogs I have looked through online. It would be nice to determine a model...

    Racking and Random Order

Or you could just go with racking by numerical order with the 9 in the middle as usual and EVERYONE gets the same rack to deal with whatever way they can. Good luck getting either way introduced into the rules! The only way to get past most of it is by referees doing the racking all the time...

    Racking and Random Order

I think that you are over-thinking this. Random means it doesn't matter what is where. Rack em by number if you want or whatever. I have never run into anyone who cares. Once you start playing nine ball, you will see how it goes.

    Shaft care question

Don't let it hit the edge of the table and get dents or nicks in it. Clean it off once in a while! Maybe often! Don't use sandpaper at ALL. Don't use hand chalk. Wash your hands instead. They can get pretty grubby in a pool hall or tavern from the felt if it is not kept clean very well...

Why we choke under pressure and how to avoid it. TEDTalk

I bought that book back in the mid eighties. I was surprised to see it being mentioned. Another good book on sport psychology is "The Pursuit of Excellence" By Terry Orlick.
