Cue ID Assistance

I would greatly appreciate assistance in identifying the maker of this cue stick. It came in about the nicest Brunswick case I have ever seen, but there are no markings on the cue that I could see and there was nothing marked on or in the case. The stick measures ~57 1/2 inches from the bumper to the end of the tip, and it weighs exactly 20 ounces (butt is 15 3/4 ounces and shaft with tip is 4 1/4 ounces). Detailed pictures follow. At first I thought it was a Brunswick cue, but the more I look at it, the more I think it was made by someone else.

I found this at a local estate sale on a rack where customers set items they want to purchase aside while they still shop. I was able to locate the customer and told her I am a pool shooter and would really like the stick. The lady let me purchase it from the estate and would take nothing from me even though I offered to pay her generously for her trouble. All I could do was thank her for it.

I have no intentions to sell the stick; I plan to keep it for the long haul. Thanks for any help in identifying the maker.

That joint sure looks like Palmer to me..
the old Originals had that pearl collar
and nickel joint.. inlays look Palmer, too.

$.02

No expert here but the first thing I thought was an old Palmer mostly because of the joint trim and the joint itself.

Does not look like a Palmer at all AFAIK.

Pilot all wrong for one thing, among others.

I don't recall seeing pilots like that before. They can likely identify the maker.

.

Not Palmer points. They didn't run them that low on the splice.

Not Palmer joint pilots. Those look like there may be an aluminum shield or something over the main pilot. Palmer did not do that.

Not a Palmer butt plate. never seen a short length pearl-like material.

For the rest of the cue, not a Palmer bumper.

I would say, not a Palmer. One could be confused by the joint collars, which in some eras, do resemble Palmer. But, no.

All the best,
WW

Cue ID not withstanding, you hit a home run with the pics. Getting a cue ID from pics sometimes isnt easy but you did a great job with these.

Not a Palmer.

Thing is back then guys produced cues using the same limited components and in the same style.

I think the colors in the veneers, that rare bumper and aluminum collars on the shaft inserts will make the ID easy once someone who knows chimes in. Very unique cue, maybe some kind of quality vintage import.

Your cue looks like it has plastic WICO veneers. If you don't see grain. Further confirmstion that it is a Spain blank.

You can see in the close-ups they are not vinyl veneers. Very bright colors for the period though.

Very nice score! I am envious.

I am wondering if anybody has seen pilots constructed like that before. The other cue posted does not have them. Obviously the same maker, but those pilots sure are unique on the OPs cue.

Here is a cue that Fedunka converted. It has a good look of the shaft pilots, and the butt cap radius.

The cue,the case and the pics are top notch. The story is right there with them...what a find!

I am attaching a blown-up picture and the veneers are definitely wood, as Chopblock noted. I am a bit confused as, while I enjoy cues and have several (mostly Schon), I am not an expert on the process of making them. How much of the cue was made by Burton Spain and how much by Mike Fedunka? Thank you again for all the assistance.
