    Kress router needed ...

800w 110v Kress routers - $295 All this worry about adapting 220v units to 110v. Tsk, tsk. Apparently nobody has bothered to verify a claim made earlier about Techno's prices. However, Techno has 110v, 800w Kresses available for $295. All day...every day. Collets are $35 each. This...

    Kress router

Very close. That might account for the $80 difference in price from the 1050 watt spindle. FWIW, I have never seen the need for more power in any cuemaking task yet. On my lathe, I regularly rough in my stock taking 1/8" on a side at .072"/rev feed. This spindle buzzes right through it.

    Kress router

I've been using a Kress since '95 and they are great. I've had my old ones rebuilt so I now have one mounted on my CNC, one set up for threading & slitting and one set up for turning on my lathe. The latest (the new, red body style) was purchased around Xmas of '07 for under $300, including an...

    shaft consruction question

Not sure when Mr. Reyes made his first shaft with carbon/graphite insert but I sold my first one in October of 1999. This can be verified here: http://groups.google.com/group/rec.sport.billiard/browse_thread/thread/ea47d3efcdc250b1/205fc75c5a9fea02?lnk=st&q=graphite+shaft+dz+cues

    Unexpected Results of Service

You are safe going the other way with just about any 3/8-10 shaft except one of mine. The only difference in shaft preparation between the two thread sizes is this: the FB thread uses a minor diameter of .308 to register the shaft, whereas most cuemakers use a .312 diameter drill prior to...

    Unexpected Results of Service

No. Although I have individual drivers for each thread, they are interchangeable. Using the old style 3/8-10 driver on a shaft with a 3/8-10 Flat Bottom thread will not harm anything. The pitch & major diameter of each pin is identical. Only the minor diameter is different - and that is...

    Tapping phenolic

The standard formula for a tap drill is nominal size minus 1/pitch. For a 3/8-10 that would be .375 - .100 = .275 diameter. Cuemakers cheat and use a larger hole in wood because the threads tear when tapped. Live tooling solves that problem. With phenolic, I'd try a 9/32 drill to get...

Phenolic Poolball Sets Converted To Ring Billets !

I have to reply here to reassure one of my customers who told me about this thread. He was worried that the cueball ferrule on his 8 yr old jump/break cue was not up to the task. FWIW, I've offered cueball and/or colored ball ferrules, shaft & joint collars for 15 yrs. NEVER has one broken...

    Brianna shaft blanks

Just a note to recommend the shaft blanks Lee is offering. I got a few dozen several months ago to see how they were. The centers were kinda deep but the wood was awesome! Good color, straight grain, decent grain count and nice tone. After whittling them down over time, the blanks...

Looking for threading dial for Enco 13x40 Lathe

I removed my threading dial years ago to make room for a Trava-Dial. I've since misplaced the threading dial. After some experimentation, I found how deep I needed to go for all the common external threads & I do all of my threading in a single pass. It works fine but now I want to do some...

Palmer furules found in Jersey basement !

I found a batch of those myself several years ago but didn't know what they were. I've been using them for Viking replacements because they already had the tapped hole. It is not LBM. I believe it was called Marbelite or something like that. The yellow skin cuts away easily - see the sample...

    has anyone used elforyn?

I only checked the materials I had on hand. If anyone is interested in where another ferrule material fits in this table, send me a sample & I'll include it in the chart. Send a larger, unmachined sample if possible so I can calculate the necessary volume/weight relationship. No tapped...

    has anyone used elforyn?

I've only installed about 3 dozen Elf ferrules in the past 2 yrs but I've never had one swell up in that time. If you were dealing with extreme humidity & temps, I'd venture to guess the wood would be more susceptible to swelling than any synthetic. Is it possible that was the problem & not...

    has anyone used elforyn?

I disagree with that statement. In fact, I'd say Ivorine4 absorbs moisture much more than elforyn. I just did some ferrule material weight comparisons and marked the faces with a felt pen. The writing on elforyn was easily wiped off whereas the Ivorine4 soaked it up like a sponge, spreading...

2008 - deja vu all over again Why me??? I take a little vacation from AZ only to find this post welcoming me back. I strive for a fairly discreet logo & copyright (hint, hint) symbol only to find it going up in vivid flames. I know it's fun playing with images but when you see a copyright...
