***CNC Shaft/Butt Turning*** CueCut Licensed Version For Sale

I'm making a short, 22" butt for a junior player. I used the compound taper feature of CueCut to make the first 6" my standard taper (so my collets would work). The next 6" transitions to a larger diameter which also matches my taper and leaves the large end at 1.270". This allows the player...

    xzero table top

It's simply 2 holes repeated at whatever the distance is between your mounting points. But I agree, it's a PITA doing all those holes manually. Nice job, Randy. Some pics when the top is mounted would be nice!

*****CNC Shaft & Butt Cutting Computer Program*****

No, Neil. It's Mach3's standard "Program Run" page. Yes, it will, Jim. It doesn't show the cutter diameter but the limits are there for your verification. You make a great point about the value of this page for a quick reference. I don't use this page often enough but will in the future.

    Ferrule cracking diagnosis

timely screw-up This cue was .030" oversize & I was going to take a light cut to clean up the inlays. Obviously, I plugged in a wrong number but I caught it before anything more than the Juma joint collar was destroyed. I cut off the old collar, picked up the threads & cut away the remains...

*****CNC Shaft & Butt Cutting Computer Program*****

Based on my first hand experience, I found Kelly’s program to be a surprisingly useful addition to my shop. A solid background in MasterCam made me skeptical at first but CueCut has proven to be a simple, versatile alternative when cutting anything round. Once you establish your machine’s...

    3/8x10 modified pin question

In response to a sudden flurry of inquiries, I added a few lines to the bottom of the page describing the modified pin. I hope it helps explain why not all 3/8-10 pins interchange perfectly. It is still an easy fix.

    "A" joint

Got it. I've done that on a few cues but the trade off (when using my regular point geometry) is shorter points & a wider gap at the base of the points. Not sure that I want that. Besides, I can make the points only about 1/2" longer due to veneer sheet length. 5/8" x 2". And sometimes I'll...

    "A" joint

Some great info here on epoxies but the construction techniques only apply to forearms without points. Here's one way to achieve something similar with a pointed forearm. Any others?

    Shielded wire for limit/home switches

I used 18 gauge, 3 conductor shielded cable for my inductive home switches & have had absolutely zero problems. My choice was based on 2 things: 1. It was available cheap locally since it was the end of a roll. 2. It's overkill. I love overkill. And, as Jake suggests, instead of using limit...

    cutting wrap channel

I use the Config/Fixtures tab to double check the numbers but that's a good idea using the G59P numbers - even for making duplicate work stations in case you accidentally overwrite one.

    cutting wrap channel

Lol. Royce, notice the G58 written on my spinner base in the video. That's so I don't forget which offset goes with which station. My 3-jaw chuck fits into the round register on my scavenger board. That's G56. My indexer is G57 but all I really save there is the X coordinate (which is the Y...

    cutting wrap channel

Funny you should mention this. I just put up a video showing the first butt w/wrap groove that I did on my CNC. I haven't squared the corners yet but that's pretty basic. The main thing was to cut the groove to the correct depth & taper in one operation.

    replace ferrule

Actually, I bought a 3 lb. coffee can full of those ferrules about 20 yrs ago. I think I paid around $20 for it. They were called "marbelite" or something like that. They were my cheap replacement ferrule & I used them for players on a tight budget. I still have several dozen remaining but...

WTB: Brianta MT0 extended point live center

Hi gang. Brianna had some MT0 extended/relieved live centers (brass fronts) he sold for quite a while. In case anyone might have some they don't use, I'm looking to buy 2 of them. Note he made ones with a straight shank and a morse taper 0 shank. I'm looking for any with the morse taper 0...
