DC Area: New Masters League in Shirlington

    Any thriving hobbies out there?

I write music, see the link to my page in my sig. I also paint and enjoy cooking and landscape photography. I play tennis. There are lots of musicians in many different genres and I think it's a rather stable hobby. Likewise for photography and painting though perhaps fewer dedicated...

    Challenge Accepted......

It's worth mentioning that running a high number of balls in practice is one thing. Running a big number in competition is another thing entirely. You will be more risky in practice as there is no penalty for missing or busting open the rack.

    The REAL problem with pool

I saw a very good room in Florida put themselves out of business by adding a dance floor, karaoke and having loud rock bands to entertain their patrons. Once that started I believe they only lasted 1 or 2 more years before they closed for good.

    would you say something?

I think it depends on the person. The floor creaks when I walk on it. I can't imagine what a pool table would do if i hopped up on it. :)

    Meucci Originals Gambler 84-9E

I"d guess it's possible but I would think in pristine condition with 2 shafts more in the $900-1200 range to a serious collector. To someone who just wants to buy a cue maybe $500-600 tops.

BIG Changes ahead for Pro Pool???

I agree with the free fall idea but I think ultimately it may need to fall all the way and bounce a few times and then start over.

    League players/captains input

That makes sense unless its the same player who doesn't always show up every night that won the final match when the teams were tied that send you to Nationals or gets you the cash. If you short change those who win for the team when the pressure is on it will likely comeback to bite you in the...

Is this a real R. Espiritu cue?

I would be surprised if someone is copying his cues vs. a more popular and expensive cuemakers work, like a Searing, BlackBoar etc. Maybe there is an exceptional demand for his cues that I am unaware of.

Live Stream Team Event Old School vs. New School

Would there be any support for a live streamed event with a team of Old School Champions playing an all around with the New School Players.? Old School Team (Nick Varner, Mike Sigel, Johnny Archer, Earl STrickland, CJ Wiley, Efren, Busty, ??) vs. the New School Team (Alex P, Brandon Shuff...

Tip Replacement - DIY or Professional?

I've been re-tipping cues by hand for over 30 years. The pics posted showing the Porper Big Shaver, Rapid Top cue sander, tip file(sandpaper insert) and glue ( I use Loctite Gel) are all good I use a rubberband to hold the tip in place while it's drying. You don't need a lathe and it's not...
