Top 10 Reasons to Use an Open Bridge

I personally have always favored using an open bridge myself, but like it was mentioned earlier in this thread I also shoot in a very low stance with the cue close to touching my chin. Part of it might have also been that I used to not wear a glove and hated talc powder, so using an open bridge...

When you can't get natural angle;.... do you use draw or follow?

Probably some crazy follow that bounces from the straight nipple to the left nipple to send the cue ball all the way down long side for a straight shot on the 9.

When you can't get natural angle;.... do you use draw or follow?

Assuming I am trying to make it, I would try to cheat the pocket with follow and a lot of right spin and try to position and try to get as close to the middle diamond as possible on a 2 rail bounce. That said, I would also consider eyeing a defensive play where I try to stick the cue as close to...

My personal gripe list buying on forums, or eBay.

I would imagine having a mandated template that you have to fill out to sell/buy things by communities that dabble in the transaction of pool stuff would go a long way of shoring up quality.

    Positive experience with Proficient Billiards

I am not much for writing positive reviews (too lazy), but I feel like I have to for Proficient Billiards. So recently I scratched up the finish the forearm of my Mezz EC7-ES when I failed to notice the chalk beneath the cue when shooting. While it is by no means an "expensive" cue in the world...

Common mistakes a lot of average players make.

Here are the ones I have noticed Not taking the time to line up your shot while standing Holding the cue too tightly when shooting

Ball storage when not in use

Dust is like like the frogs from Jurassic Park... "Life finds a way!" More truthfully, I just tend to be overly careful about things I probably don't need to be, for example with my rifles. :p

Ball storage when not in use

A buddy of mine recently visited and we started to shoot some pool. One of the things that surprised him was that I took the balls out of their box in the beginning and put the balls back into the box again when we were done. He was confused as to why I did that and my answer was so that they...

best cue you ever had or still have ???

Currently my Mezz (which is sadly at Proficient Billiards currently) with its Ignite shaft. I am sure the cue that Chris Nitti is working for me on will change my mind though.

    Seyberts lowering price cue

Having gotten through this thread, I will just say this... it always boggles my mind how quickly people jump to assuming malicious intent. IMHO Seyberts, Pool Dawg, Manning, and Billiards Warehouse are all fantastic businesses that work hard to make sure their customers are properly treated. If...

    Does it stop being fun?

After I graduated and didn't have easy (more importantly, free) access to pool tables, I ended up losing interest in pool. This went on for over 20+ years until I finally purchased my first house and made a pool table one of the first things I purchased. Since then I play at least 5-6 times a...

It was mainly a tongue in cheek comment about some poster that made multiple threads hyping his cues.

    Chalk for phenolic tips

Unless you are hitting excessively hard, is this really the case? Pool balls are made of phenolic as well and outside of there already being something wrong, the impact should be about the same as the cueball hitting another pool ball on a hard hit right?
