Tell me which oil finish works good

The way I do my snooker cues is with urethane varnish. Thin it down about 25% and put it on the cue with a soft cloth. Wait 5 to 10 minutes and wipe all the excess off. Let it dry and repeat until you have the finish you want. It usually takes 4 or 5 coats.

what is your best stupid customer story!!!

One of the best I have had is a customer who brought me a cue and the tip was held on with a small screw. He said he had been using it that way for months.

    Replace Palmer Cue Decal

Anyone with an inkjet printer can make a water slide decal. It may not be quite as bright as the original.

Question about doing a linen wrap

Try dampening the area around the bump and repress it while it is wet. This is the method I use and you can't find any bumps.

    pin change

Well it is not putting a pin in the hole that is left. First you have to get the old pin out, then drill the hole out, plug it with wood or phenolic, drill this out, tap it and then put the new pin in. I would charge between $30 to $40 dollars depending on the pin.

    Shaft Joint Help

When I went to the Dufferin auction (when they went out of business) I couldn't keep my mouth shut. Therefore I ended up buying a whole bunch of stuff. I have found a use for most of it.

    Rogue cue technician

I think we are talking about two different types of cue repair people. 1. The part time, hobby person who feels that any money they make is a bonus and 2. The full time repair (maybe builder) that relies on the work to feed himself and family. If you are looking at this as a hobby and get $20...

    cue labeling

I use different methods. On my 8-Ball cues I engrave my name on the butt cap. On my snooker cues I have wooden buttons that have my name engraved on them that I inset into the cue. On my 8-Ball shafts I use a waterslide decal.

    Cue Joints -

Dufferin had a 1/2 x 13 but it was their aluminum joint so there was not a lot of weight.

    Warped cue

I'm not quite sure what you mean by warped at the joint. If you mean that when taken apart the shaft and the butt roll ok, then yes it is usually a fairly easy fix. You need to face the joint. If there is a warp in either the butt or shaft near the joint then this is a different matter. It...

You should be able to cut the pilot off and not run into problems. I have done it a number of times.

Whats the best plug in heater

I use a radiant heater that I bought from Lee Valley. http://www.leevalley.com/en/home/OnlineCatalogs.aspx?id=dde5db7d Click on first catalog and search under heater. All of the ones I bought previously had fans and stopped working after a year or so. This one is great.

Help with a pin ID & pictures of how you shouldn't ship a cue

That looks like the original 5/16x14 pin that Dufferin used in their Glider joints.

    Pin Weight

Something doesn't seem right. That would be 1.06 difference.
