Anyone else too hard on themselves when they miss?

I kinda disagree. You absolutely HAVE to plan the rack, and the quoted line is crucial to doing that. However, once you have formed a plan, THEN you do exactly as you said: Stay in the present, focus on the shot at hand.

Anyone else too hard on themselves when they miss?

Also - I have this exact mental process going on a lot of the time. I look at the layout of the table and say "I really should be out here." - even if it's a little tricky - because I SEE the out. I know where I have to get on each ball... so when I get out of line I fight (too hard) to get...

Anyone else too hard on themselves when they miss?

I have been really bad about getting too upset over a shot or more likely a series of shots. Usually just one miss per rack I can handle without even thinking about it. But if I miss/dog 2 or more easy shots in a few racks it starts to get under my skin. Beyond that it's all Earl-land. In...

Where can I find/watch this match? TAR Match.

Justin has said several times (both here and on podcasts) that he plans to get the old TAR matches up on the OnDemand site. But, as was stated early, it does take a lot of processing time to get them formatted and uploaded. I'd love to think he'd get one a month up, but with his new role with...

Qiut smoking day for AZers and support.Monday.

This will be my 4th serious attempt (over the last 10 years; been smoking almost 25 years - started really young). Most of the other times I just quit cold turkey and generally make it a few months without a problem; made it a whole 14 months once. My downfall is the infamous "I was really...

Qiut smoking day for AZers and support.Monday.

It's been long enough, I'll go ahead and post here. I had my last real cigarette Sunday around 11pm. I am/will continue with the e-cigs for a while - but just getting off the real ones is a huge step. Plus, I like my desert flavors so much more. And I don't stink all day every day. But, it's...

    Coffee is for closers only

I also tend to fight back much stronger than I finish if I get out to an early lead. My biggest [worst] example was being up on my opponent 6-0, racing to 9. I lost that match 8-9. Talk about letting up! OUCH! I've gotten better lately, but it still takes a lot of mental focus to protect...

    tip position measurement device

The Jim Rempe Training ball is coated with something that holds the chalk-mark from the hit. It's not 100% perfect at retaining it, but it has worked for me 95% of the time (if I'm hitting with draw, sometimes the spin wipes the chalk off).

Sandman says Borana Andoni vs Sandra Stevens NEXT !!!

Did this match happen last night??? I thought it was going to be today before the restart of JB/Lou, so I went to bed after Jon won the last rack to force today's session. :( :(

    Cue and Cushion Billiards

The diamond is available for all games now. They removed that 1p-only restriction more than a year ago. They do not serve food. They have 17, I think, 9-foot tables, 1 7ft and 1 8ft. Also a 10ft snooker table and a 10ft heated 3C table. Not all tables are gold crowns, i think there's a...

    Shane's Instructional Series DVD

Mika's Mastering Pool series are top-notch video quality and production. They're great for beginners/intermediate - but I'd guess for 80% of the members here, there's nothing new on them. The advanced disc talked about deflection, for example. For more meat and potatoes, Dr. Dave's videos are...

    (Your Pereference) 8 Ball League

This ... all of this. I've only played APA and NAPA (nothing else available in my area) - but the format of NAPA and the call-ball/pocket rules, combined with the open after the break ... perfect. And the races are decent length. :)

    Appleton Vs Woodward Match

I missed the Darren/Skyler match. :( But I did see the SVB/Skyler match and holy CRAP that was awesome. They each broke'n'ran from the 1st rack till the 10th rack! Unfortunately, Skyler couldn't keep up his soft break spreads as well as SVB.

    Shane's Instructional Series DVD

I'm not sure they're worth buying the DVD over the onDemand version from the TAR site (assuming the physical discs are more expensive). All of them are decent and have a few gems; but they are hard to listen to. It sounds like he doesn't really want to give out information, but that's where...

can you beat the 9b ghost race to 9?

For whatever reason (my dumb brain) I tend to blow the easy outs more than the hard ones, and as such, thus far, I've only ever gotten halfway to beating the ghost. Which really only makes me try harder, cuz... screw that guy. haha

USBTC 10 Ball 4th place match just started

Thanks for the updates! My office is in a weird part of town and I can only get a small 3G signal so I can't even watch it on my phone (it's blocked on the company network).
