    Return of the Road Player

    MAYBE...The Perfect Pool Tournament with a “A”, “B”, and “C” Handicapped Format

Oh, and for people who may question my theory.... Look at the national tournaments for APA/BCAPL/VNEA/ACS/TAP/etc. Which format has the largest turnout in both singles and team events? You want your local tournament to have larger turnouts, take a look at what has the largest number of players...

    MAYBE...The Perfect Pool Tournament with a “A”, “B”, and “C” Handicapped Format

Oh, and another factor... A lot of the well attended events tend to be 8-Ball. IMHO you're much more likely to get lower ranked players to enter an 8-Ball tournament than a 9-Ball one, because in most cases, they get to shoot more. I personally feel like I have a MUCH better chance in an...

    MAYBE...The Perfect Pool Tournament with a “A”, “B”, and “C” Handicapped Format

Or it could just be people aren't showing up to the tournaments because they aren't well run... Here in Minneapolis we are seeing multiple weekly $15 entry tournaments seeing 25-30 people showing up at each on different nights. We're seeing $1k added tournaments monthly with 3 different...

    strait pool

Oh, and if they say Mosconi played 9 ball, turn and walk away. He may have played the game from time to time, but the current 9 Ball game (namely Texas Express) didn't come about until the 1980's, long after he retired from professional pool.

    strait pool

Well, ask them if they have heard of Mosconi... If they have, ask him what game he was known for playing... If they haven't heard of him, turn around and walk away because their opinion doesn't matter. "This ain't pool, this is for bangers. Straight pool is pool, this is like hand ball or...

    Trying to go Pro.

I once had a dream that I was a professional pool player... Then I woke up in a panic thinking my life had gone to crap! I was SO glad it was only a dream! Brian

Here's why pool lost so much popularity.....

Most golf is played in silence as well... You also don't hear that much talking from the players on a football field! IMHO any sport is only as good to watch on TV as the commentators are to listen to. Brian

    9 ft table lighting

I had never thought of using the circline bulbs! I have some 150w equiv spiral CFL's which light up well, but they go below the bottom of the shades... Going to have to order some of the circline ones to see if that fixes the issue. Think I'll go for the 30w (120w equiv) circline ones and see if...

    APA wins Guinness World Record

A % of profit per year, IIRC like 20% goes back to the APA as well. Plus, they paid a purchase price to buy the franchise.

5 Tables for a Big Tourney?

I didn't take any of the posts to be a blast at Bogies either. It's not their fault that 90+ people will be showing up to play on 5 tables! They are hosting the event, not running it...

    Irish linen vs. leather

Myself, I always have felt that leather wraps seem too slippery to me... I'm pretty sure it's just a perception thing, but, as someone once told me "perception is reality"... I like linen wraps most followed by wrapless... Brian
