    Mueller's Sporting Goods

I have done business with Mueller's for 15 years. Never had a problem. Sorry to hear you did.

What do you look for when collecting?

About 3 years ago I started limiting my collecting to just cue makers from my home state - Texas. Since then I have realized just how many great cue builders (past and present) that have graced the Lone Star state with their work! So many cues and so little time (and money...grin).

    The One That Got Away...

I had a chance to buy an early 70's ginacue - rosewood merry widow with 3 full shafts (2 full 13mm) for 650 bucks in 1990. Unfortunately, I was in college at the time and could not spare the money.

Taking The Skill Out Of Pool

In my opinion, if someone wants to buy mutliple cues and gadgets more power to them it is their money. I also do not think that all those gadgets help you out that much but hey if they want to try that is ok. People like that keep a part of the billiards industry in business which is a good...

    Turning Players Into Robots

If there was a system that could turn my game into Ralf's or Thorsten's I would do it in a heartbeat! Unfortunately, that will never happen-too many variables to consider. So, I guess I will have to keep banging away happily at the balls...

    Maker ID

When Charlie was being sponsored by Jerry Olivier, Jerry made some break jump cues for him to market. They were a dark grey stained jump break with no points with Hillbilly in block letters on a ring in above the buttcap. From what I understand, there were very few of these made. These had a...

    BCA Sandbag Q's??? Mark?? Anybody?

Have you thought what may be happening is that by playing so many safties your team is dragging out/prolonging the matches and the other teams in the league are looking for anything to get your team booted out? If your team is still winning the same amount of matches by playing safe as playing...

    Possible Change to APA Scoring...

I think this is a great idea. It will add to the entertainment value of the league in the fact that it will give everyone something else to moan and complain about. The "sandbagging" issue was getting a bit long in the tooth. Now, everyone can complain and/or run down the APA on another subject.

Instead of having a league every week, why not just have a tournament?

Speaking for myself, a league makes more sense on a regular weekly basis. Tournaments, while I love playing in them can be a bit erratic as to the number of players playing and the amount of time they take. This can lead to some nights not getting home until well after midnight. When you have...

Thes best 2010 US OPEN Interview...

I always thought that if you played winner break and required that the first shot right after the break be a push the game of 9 ball would be a whole lot more interesting. Also, no jump cues allowed under the format. IMHO

    declaring a safety VNEA

Personally, I do not think "just a shot" is a clear way to call playing a safety at all because the word "shot" is used for various actions. Say you make a great cut down a rail or make a difficult kick or bank more often or not someone will say nice "shot". If you are playing a safety it is...

How to handle your pool team

This is what works for me. The team has been together for maybe 12 years in various forms. I have been on it since 2002. Our way of scheduling players works for VNEA and is based on ball count. Don't think it will work for APA. Scheduling players - As a team we run a 6 player roster plus an...

    How to Ignore distractions?

I totally agree. I also have a 3 year old who "helps" me practice. Nothing like having a little one run around the table to make you have to focus. She also goes "uh oh" whenever I miss a shot. LOL
