BCA vs VNEA 8 Ball Rules

Two other differences are that in VNEA if the table is open, you can hit the 8 ball first to make a ball. Another is that you have to mark the pocket you are shooting the 8 ball at (please note that this can be waived if both parties/teams agree to not use pocket markers).

Cyclop, Super Aramith, or Centennial Balls?

I have a set of both the Cyclop (skittle colors) and the Centennial balls. I prefer the Centennial but the Cyclop are excellent balls also. I switch out between the two sets as a change of pace/practice now and then.

    Various League Equipment Rules

This is from VNEA's 2016 Championship flyer. Cue Specifications: Width of Tip: Not to exceed 15mm. Length of Cue: 40 inches min. Various “Rack Systems” will NOT be allowed. (I am not sure what this is, I assume that it means you have to use a traditional triangle to rack). DEVICES ARE NOT...

Would you have a problem with the way I rack?

Can't see why anyone would complain about the way you rack. IMO It is the best way to rack as it results in less wear to the table cloth. I hate to see tables where there are 5 worn tracks running from the end rail out to the back row of balls sit. The tracks are caused by people racking the...

VNEA Jumping rule or any other ruleset for that matter

Not sure if this applies to regular league or not. But at the 2015 VNEA championship in Vegas they had a rule in place that stated: Devices are not allowed for jump shots. Anything other than your bridge hand could be considered a device. This rule is listed on the first page of the 2016...

    league: forfeit or re-match

If the team gives you plenty of notice then reschedule. If they don't give plenty of notice but have a good reason for not making the match reschedule. If it is short notice and it sounds like you are going to have difficulty re-scheduling take the forfeit.

When will the US and the Philippines embrace snooker?

Ron, Football/Soccer has in fact gotten a foothold in the US. When I was growing up there were no youth leagues for the sport. Now there are youth leagues all over the place. Unfortunately, it is not as popular as American Football, Baseball, Basketball or Hockey but it's popularity is...

    APA Rating Question

I played APA for about 14 years. And I believe that your handicap is based on an average from your BEST performances going back a certain number of matches. So, if you are winning your matches performing as a say a 5 handicap but are losing your matches as a 3 the computer will go back and...

Help with info about the cue maker Leon Sly?

A buddy of mine plays on a Sly cue and is very happy with it. I hit a few balls with it and I was impressed. The points were very sharp and even the ring-work looked great. In MY opinion, his cue has a similar hit to an Andy Gilbert that I own (both cues have a flat face joint with a 3/8 pin)...

    Most overpriced cue?

It's really simple. An overpriced cue is one that you can't seem to sell at that price. The most overpriced cue is one that you probably NEVER will sell at that price.

    Going To Vegas

One thing that I have not seen mentioned in this thread in regards to "where to stay" is that the monorail system has a stop at the Westgate (formerly the Las Vegas Hilton). A player could stay farther out on the strip and ride the monorail in. The monorail has stations as far out as the MGM...
