    My CNC tapering machine progess

Well this is the best attempt at a cnc lathe I have seen on here for a while. Other than the couplers the only issue that I saw was the stepper motors. Do you already have a stepper controller? I notice that they are not standard 4 wire bi-polar motors. Jim.

How to modify a gun drill?

Congrats Kidd. You have somehow insulted the more knowledgable poster on here and propped up the less experienced. The subtle difference is that now when you ask questions you will get the answers that you want and not the ones you need. Good luck on your journey. Jim.

    Taper machine

Well if it where me I would get ahold of some linear actuators and a good spindle. Use a gecko 540 stepper controller to drive it and go cnc. Wait that is what I did. If you go this route be prepared to spend a few grand. That is if you do the work yourself. Good luck Jim

    Micro Mill

For the money, the Taig is a nice little CNC mill. I will assume that you intend on the CNC ver. of that machine. That machine is capable if splicing in points or cutting in inlays. I have done both on one. The weak area is the lead nuts. They are made of brass and will have up to .010" in back...

Help with new Mid cue smith

Kim, I actually have to disagree here. Your method certainly is best if your using the full length of the lathe bed and want to adjust the tail stock to cut wood without a taper. Remember he is drilling or tapping with a Mid size lathe. I believe that it is a repair lathe and most of the time...

    Shaft cleaning

Is your shaft getting sticky during play? If so then simply wipe your shaft down with a dry cloth and then, the most important thing, wash your hands. If you actually want to clean your shaft and get the chalk out, use Mr. Clean's Magic Erase with alcohol along the grain. The trouble here is...

Help with new Mid cue smith

Chris will be headed to the SBE and most likely wont answer the phone. If you check out his videos he demonstrates how to do the alignment. However it is done as already stated. The best way is to use an axial indicator that most of us done have access to. Jim

    CNC help

I have seen something similar before! If you change everything else out, try the keyboard. I have seen where chips get stuck in the keyboard and cause issues. If you have a stuck job key for the Z axis maybe. It is a long shot but you are running out of things to try. good luck, Jim.

    Widen shaft thread by tapping

A 3/8-10 tap is not standard. It would cost more to buy one than have some else do this for you. If you shaft will not go at all then there are a few possibilities. First, is it the correct shaft for that cue? Second, is the pin bent on that cue? If you are satisfied that it is the correct shaft...

    bludworth cnc saw machine help

Cool, then for the "Steps Per" on motor tuning of Mach 2 multiply that number by 1.25 to convert. That would be the original number divided by 8 and multiplied by 10. There are a couple other settings for the G540 but it is not hard to do. Does your new box have a built in relay. If so then your...

    bludworth cnc saw machine help

Randy, there are two main differences between the controller you have and the G540. The first is the micro stepping. The controller you have breaks each of your stepper's 200 pulses per rev into 8 micro steps. The gecko uses 10 micro steps. This is just a math issue that we can help you with...
