    14.1 practice drills?

Try this drill, Jim Rempe came up with it. It helps with pattern play and cue ball control. Throw all the balls on the table and try to run them off without hitting any rails. http://vimeo.com/10681777 Bill

Is Mike Sigel the best ever?

Schmidt ran 403 in front of numerous witnesses at Q-Masters the night before the US Open started 4 years ago. Bustamante was one of the witnesses. 27 out of 28 break shots were conventional side of the rack breaks, the other one was behind the rack. I have the master copy of him running 366 on...

    Challenge Breakshots

It might have been 2 missed breakballs in a row and a scratch, can't remember exactly. I think all 4 innings for the day were over in about 2 minutes.

    Challenge Breakshots

4 years ago Allison Fisher entered the challenge. She warmed up by shooting a few racks then she practiced that break shot. She must of shot it 5 or 6 times for practice before she started he first attempt. 1st official attempt, scratch off the rack, puzzled look on her face. 2nd attempt...

    Challenge Breakshots

Danny is about the only one at the DCC that still uses that break shot. Corey and numerous others stopped using it after numerous scratches off the rack. They all have switched over to the center of the table side pocket break that Schmidt and most others use.

    Sascha Tege 55 Ball run

I was talking to Niels and he said a few years back Sascha played Ralf's speed. He has taken some time off and is just now starting to play again. Yes, his high run was 55, he had a few more attempts that ended in the 30's and 40's I believe. Putting it into perspective Mika's high run in 12...

    The "BluePepper" days ?

Super nice guy. My first meeting was also at the Worlds but it was in New Brunswick and then again at Comet. He played Dennis Walsh a couple of games at Comet, he plays very well. He has been working on his music real seriously the past couple of years ( singer, songwriter). He loves straight...

Derby City Straight Pool Challenge 2011

Thorsten's run was 174 and out against Schmidt. I do believe Archers's was 173 as stated.

    1st post - break question

Less chance of missing the breakball, less chance of a scratch off the side of the rack, usually a better spread. If you miss the breakball your inning is over and you only get 12 tries. One year Ralf missed the breakshot twice and scratched off the rack the third time, he used up 3 innings in...

    This Years 14.1 Challenge

Thanks Lou. Dennis, Dana and I appreciate it and I'm sure all our sponsors do as well. All and all I think everything went fairly well except for the obvious. If the sponsnors are in again next year I'm sure the 3 of us will gladly do it again. We will make a few changes so the event will run...

drunken alex live in the finals

Thanks. We know the buyback system causes havoc with the scheduling but Bob really liked the idea of getting a portion of the 8 man tournament on the TV table. It just hasn't worked out in the last couple of years. It just goes to show you that good straight pool players are also good 9 ball...

drunken alex live in the finals

It's not a people thing, it's a scheduling thing. Accu-stats wants to film 4 matches, 2 on Friday and 2 on Saturday. The problem arises when the players that are in the straight pool are also still alive in the 9 ball. When our spots come up to play some of our players are playing one 9 ball...

drunken alex live in the finals

1st off, I'm the only one that know what went on. I have no idea why people think Pat made the decision, you guys are just guessing. I was informed by Jullian from accu-stats that it was my decision. Pat was not even on the floor at that time. Darren had no issue with it, actually he enjoyed...

    The facts about the final.

No bitterness directed to you. Dennis and I had a great time for the most part and the players were very much appreciative of the event and the time we spent trying to make it right. I was just looking for a replacement so if the event does get sponsorship than someone else can run it. Who...

    The facts about the final.

I was basically a in charge of the event at that time as Dennis had to leave due to the change in scheduling. The only time we used a referee was when Ken was doing it on the TV table. He was calling every shot, keeping track of the run, racking the balls and keeping score. The previous...

    The facts about the final.

As Dennis stated the matches were scheduled to be played at 11 AM and 2 PM on the TV table with Ken as the official referee as he was in the other matches and Dennis and myself as time keeper and scoring. Due to Niels going so deep in the 9 ball we had to move the matches to after the 9 ball was...
