Derby City Straight Pool Challenge 2011

Well if i didnt goof and not plug the HD Cam in i would of had the whole run on video....But me being the bonehead i am i only got about 50% of the run !!!

Dont you worry we already have planned 2 HD cams for this year's event !!!

Need any extra help?
:grin-square:

We would be honored to have you there dave....You Know That !!!!

but the question is, do you think you can handle Charlie's twisted sense of humor at 3am in the morning ???

I've been through 3 divorces, Desert Storm, and a root canal. I once sat next to Earl for 8 hours on a trans-Atlantic flight. I think I can handle Charlie's humor (or lack thereof).

;)

Dennis:

Not to take anything away from Darren (you already know my feelings towards Darren's 14.1 game in another thread), but I don't think the above statement is correct. (And not just for the "173 vs 183" typo error in the number itself.)

I think if we're going to include these "14.1 Challenges" in the "any competition" category, John Schmidt's run of 204 in last year's SBE 14.1 Challenge is actually the highest.

Or, am I missing something in the classification of "any competition"?

Thoughts?
-Sean

Sean: Yeah, this run was recorded or filmed so it is the highest recorded or filmed run in a competition. Schmidt's 204 would have been higher had it been recorded or filmed.

Cameron: I do know that there is a difference between a run during a tournament match. One would go for things in this type of run that one would not necessarily go for in match play.

I know Archer's was not recorded. Remind me again. When was Hohmann's and was it recorded?

I believe that Thorsten's run was in the 2006 World Championships. That was the year the roof leaked, and there might be some video. If not then, then it was 2007. The 2007 World Championships were recorded by propoolvideo (Jorge Torres). He still has the footage of 2007. John DiToro and I were supposed to do the commentary, but Jorge had some family stuff going on and it was pushed to the back burner. There are a few matches from 2007 where Grady Mathews did commentary. I think one was a match with Thorsten Hohmann. I'll have to get with Jorge and see if there is any footage of Thorsten's run.

Thorsten's run was 174 and out against Schmidt. I do believe Archers's was 173 as stated.

Bump for 2012 event later this month

Sean: As Blackjack said last year, "recorded" was the operative word. Although, come to think of it Niels had a 259 on video during competition that I had forgotten about.

I am bumping this thread to whet your appetites for the competition later this month at Derby. Similar format but we are not going to limit the participants to one 12 try ticket. They can buy as many as time allows! Details to follow.

Dennis:

I won't be able join you this year, but I hope this bump will shake down some assistance from 14.1 aficionados.
