Thought maybe the boards could save me some research..

How much are you willing to spend on a house cue? You can get a nice schmelke house cue at Billiardwarehouse for $26 or so, $33 or so with bocote. I don't think the one piece house cues are up on their site, but they have them.

Q: Anybody know of any celebrities that play pool ?

Someone here mentioned Matt Damon. I was two years ahead of him in college, and played him a couple of times. Not to name drop or anything. He wasn't famous at the time--just a normal college kid.

    Capelle books

I am about to buy "Play Your Best Pool" by Capelle, but have two quick questions: Does the Nine Ball section in it pretty much cover everything from "Play Your Best Nine Ball?" Does the 8 ball section pretty much cover everything from "Play Your Best 8 Ball?" All three books come highly...

What's your thing, other than pool?

Wow. I really appreciate all of the responses. I only listed one other hobby in my original post, and am feeling kind of dull and two dimensional (pool and drums). I'd like to add a few things: Playing with my four year old (boy/girl) twins. Listening to classic rock and jazz. Scuba...

What's your thing, other than pool?

I don't know what got me thinking about this...but here it is: Other than pool, what's your favorite hobby/obsession/pasttime/sport? Golf? Hunt? Play the guitar? Poker? I know that some may say this is NPR, but in a way, it is pool related. I'm trying to figure out what type of person gets...

    Just list a price RANT

but what happens if I buy this rant, play with it, get bad rolls, miss some easy runouts...then I'll have to start a new thread about how my life still sucks, even with my new rant! (I originally was going to go with whether CNC rants were worth a damn but someone beat me to it)

Which is better: TCOM or THE HUSTLER

The Hustler was a WAY better movie. Am I the only one who finds Tom Cruise's character in TCOM really, really annoying? Maybe it's just the fact that we all realize now that he's such a nutjob now in real life, but I can't stand his character, with all the ninja cue swinging and stuff. And...

    I hate pool! (long)

I think Hangemhigh has a point. What you don't mention is whether you feel like you choke when you're not playing for money. Why don't you just quit gambling and play for fun for a while. Or forever. On the mental aspect, I recently read Zen Pool by Max Eberle and feel that it has helped me.

whats the nicest pool room in chicago

I agree that the pro-tyme in Orland is a very nice room. But if you happen to be flying into Midway, head south a few miles on Cicero Ave and check out the pro-tyme in Alsip. It's about a mile north of where Cicero hits 294.

Where should I play in Memphis?

First of all, happy Thanksgiving to all of you. I'm in Memphis visiting my inlaws for the holiday weekend. Brought my cue. Where should I play? A couple of things: I'll be with various family members who don't play that much. Looking for nice clean room, nice tables, maybe decent food. It...

Pool Night - request for input

I think it's a great idea. I've been thinking of doing the same thing on my basement table for a while. You guys have inspired me to get it going. I'll reach out to you guys soon for more details. How often do you do it? Once a week? Once a month? Does it make sense to play different...
