What are the pros playing with?

When ever there is pool on tv the commentators never talk about the cues the pros are using. Does anyone know what cues the pros are playing with, specifically?

about a year ago there was a very long and accurate thread with every pro and cue/shaft etc. I looked but couldnt find it. But I know its there.

If they didn't get paid to endorse those cues and if they could afford SW, BS, Dennis Searing, Gina or Tad, I dunno.:)

Does anyone know what the Capone Jr. for Bernie Friend means? Just seeing his name brings tears to my eyes. I really miss him! ;)

I guess the pros want every advantage they can get too...

I'm also considering buying one, but I'm not a pro :D
 
I usually don't get into discussions about which cue which pro uses for one reason...I really don't care. The cue that works best for Rodney or Allison, may not be the best cue for me.

That being said, you bring up an interesting idea here. Cue makers pay a lot of money to sponsor some pros. They do it in hopes of selling more cues because so-and-so plays with one, so it must be good. Yet the brand of cue is rarely, if ever, mentioned during a televised match. Brand identity is the whole purpose of sponsorship. Ever notice at the end of a NASCAR race how the winner will always say something like "Well, the Geico, Miller, Interstate, Dupont, Home Depot, Bob's auto parts Chevy was really working today."? And the cars are often referred to by their sponsor's name during the race. "The Bud car is closing in fast on the 28 Dupont Chevy".

Maybe if more of this kind of thing was done with pool, it might attract more sponsors, both within and outside the billiard industry.

Corey has a LePro on his cue... its flat as a pancake and it's almost level with the ferrule. He says he doesn't touch it at all. He actually prefers the tips when they get like that, and it takes a while to get them broken in perfectly.
