If you decide to go with the centennials, bamacues had some for sale, new, for $175 or so. Great deal. If those are gone, the best deal I've seen is billiard warehouse for $209.

Don't feel stupid--I didn't know what it was until a little bit ago either. My initial impression, until someone explained it, was that it might be shooting and missing everything. Sort of like shooting an air ball in basketball.
