    My take on the IPT

I think it might be possible that getting the IPT off the ground has realized more work than originally planned which I believe is understandable. Yes payments are due but the reality might be as simple as getting KT who I'm sure is quite busy with other projects to sign over additional money...

    Pool project for Web Designers

Pretty interesting. You are talking about the one to include a CB rolling around the table, right? Really cool would be with the OB too. Instead of showing a video of the CB hit with TOP left to cause an OB to spin with MIDDLE right like in the other videos, they can now show MIDDLE left on...

What EXACTLY is an "A" Player?

If you are stating they know the outcome they would like vs. the ability to achieve, I agree. On the other hand, many D (more especially D) and C players have no idea of what can be accomplished at times and even would not be able to recognize good pattern play (many fight against what is...

Let the cue do the work..

Very good points. I was at a pool hall with my son last Friday watching a couple guys shooting. The one player just drew the CB and turned around and told me that he doen't draw like most players, he infact hits it softer. I told him that he had a nice draw stroke because he stayed with the shot...

should pro tournaments ban the jump cue?

I'm not sure about 1/4". My guess would be no, but clearly a ball length. He has drawn the ball almost table length on both the real nappy cloth and simonis 760/860 (we used to have 760 in our room and now have 860). We used to have a Jillians here and there he was drawing the ball off the...

should pro tournaments ban the jump cue?

You are right about jumping a ball that is close, w/o a jump cue it is very difficult though I do know some that can do it with follow and draw. For those of you that know Tony Morrison, he can jump any distance with great control with a regular stick. He can jump table length and draw the CB...

should pro tournaments ban the jump cue?

I once was against jump cues but have changed my thoughts on it. Yes it does make hits easier for your opponent except they still need to know how to use it effectively. Otherwise, they jump the table which gives me ball in hand or they miss the shot and a lot of tied up balls get broken up...

    How old is old enough?

You know golf does senior pro tournaments and many of the players were once regular job holders. Maybe soon this will happen in pool too...

What EXACTLY is an "A" Player?

I think you just asked a very tough question. I have read posts about different ways to rate players, but then again they all lack covering the mental side of the game. I have been to pool rooms were the 'A' players can run racks, that is until they meet up with a B+ player from another region...

    Push-Out Rules

There are many rule books to pick from and the BCA is just one of them. It would be nice to all these organizations to come together and vote on some real pool governing body and define one set everyone plays by. I like the discussions and opinions of the many players likes, dislikes and...

    Push-Out Rules

I would not be a fan of a push out at any time except after the opening break. I am in favor of a push out up to two times or at which time a called ball has been pocketed. (Yes, I believe 9 ball should be call pocket, no ball in hand if missed - I also mean 9 ball on the break should be called)...

    Play with everyone

Great story too Jake. Thanks for sharing. When I play my son I mix it up a little. Most games I play tough and only once in a while I let up just a little. He started playing a year ago at 9. He gets very angry if people do not play hard against him, it otherwise shows lack of respect. One...

    Push-Out Rules

Do you think if you were penalized a foul each push out it would have changed things? Keep in mind after the original shooter pushed once, he only has one more push before losing by foul.

    Push-Out Rules

No, but you may have an interesting concept. Allow players following the opening break to push out without BIH and get penalized one foul. Add to this, call all shots and you've got some good game rules.

If the tip gets smaller, doesn't the cue ball?

and also slows cloth wear. Also as an (pool hall) experiment you can take one set of balls and wash by hand only. The other set use the automatic ball washers. After 3 to 4 months compare the balls in both sets for wear. The newer Aramith balls do seem to wear much slower, but they also play...

Tight pocketed tables and a player's speed

Good note. Also, tight pockets are very enjoyable to play on especially when playing a match. If I were to practice I would much rather play more open pockets for not just confidence but you can see were the ball is entering a pocket. The downside are those pockets that are inconsistently...
