Alternatives to the phenolic break tip?

no special break tips needed IMHO! Far be it from me to offer ANY advice, (please no smart a$$ remarks). I'm no cue builder or repairman but I can and do replace my own tips (old old fashioned way with razor blade, no lathe) I use the hardest single layer tip I can find (triangle or water...

how many cues do you own?

my humble collection before I discovered this GREAT website thought I was the "cock of the walk". I see some cue here that cost more than my WHOLE collection! No "monsters", just "had to haves" found at pawn shops over the years. started in the late 80's, when you could actually find deals at...

    schon sl10 pool cue

what would an sp30 be worth??? Its my avatar, can't see it real well... Got at a pawn shop about 10 years ago, paid 450.00 (which was ALOT for me to pay) It's George case, break cue, and thre micarta ferruled shafts all about 12MM. No logo on the shafts edit...When was it made, how many were...

use old one piece house cues for "new" shafts?

update I only have 4 of these cues. One of them has a two veneer butterfly splice, badly offset, i.e. one side of the butterfly splice is real high and the other is low. I wasn't planning on doing anything with this one, however, the other three are still in the "maybe" range. I live in...

    reasons for the meucci downfall

jmho I have several meucci's in my collection.I like the older ones waaaay better. I WILL NOT buy one that has the meucci logo in "cursive" print! Its only the block script "Meucci Original" that feel right to me! The long, thin wall "plastic" ferrules were part of what gave them that great...

    schon sl10 pool cue

I too have a cue very much LIKE the sl10, but mine has sharp points not the cnc milled ones and the veneer colors are different. Has the silver ring and not the stich, also came with the micarta ferruled shafts. Sweeeet hitter, I call it "the majic stick" 'cause all I have to do is "point" it at...

use old one piece house cues for "new" shafts?

I have several old one piece house cues, from the 30's (?). They are very dark (and I mean very dark!) and have the black ferrule material on them. They roll completely flat!! A few even have whats left of Brunswick lables on the butt end. What I was wondering, could these cues be turned down to...

    Triangle Chalk

tweeten owns both mater and triangle brands. kirkenchalf (?) or something used to own the triangle brand. I thought they were the same formulation??? I buy by the gross, 1 of master, 1 of triangle and 1 national, down to the second tier in all three. The national seems to "coat" better. JMHO

    james block

has any one ever heard of this cuemaker? Came across a pretty decent looking cue the other day with james block 2004 in the forearm. Nice piece of birdseye w/ 4 ebont points, no veneers, black wrap and butt sleave w 4 maple windows in the butt sleave. It had a funny looking 3/8x10 joint pin...

Is this true about a( Runde era Schon )???

what??? Please, someone, is this possibly true?? I have an older schon cue, looks like SL-10, razor sharp points yet the solid silver band and not stich ring. Has micarta ferrules, 4 veneer w/ebony points. Everyone who has ever shot with it loves the hit...

Different Brands of Chalk All The Same?

Tweeten makes triangle chalk NOW but kierkenchalf (?) used to make it, or is kierkenchalf german for tweeten?? I personally like the National Tournament brand, seems softer and better coverage. I seem to remeber seeing old triangle chalk under kierkenchalf logo going for high dollars on e-bay???

Please post some pics of Fullspliced Cues

Mr Manwon, I have often wondered what a definition of a "true splice"cue is for years. Thanks. In that semi famous u-tube clip of Mr. Szamboti being interveiwed, seems to me, he is using the "V" groove method for inlaying "prongs" (as he called them). I have seen pictures of two different...

    Schon questions

Mainly to Bama_cues, Fast_N_loose and bogey54311. Before I finally registered, I read lots of post on this "GREAT" site. One in particular,in the wanted/for sale forum, rburgoyne had an "older" Schon for sale. One of yall made the comment that the older schon cues from the Runde era had stich...

What Do you think about Espiritu cues

New to this great site!! Being in the central Mississippi area, not far from where Russ lives, I own several Espiritus. The first is an early Plain jane smoke stained BEM "1993" when he was using the 5/16x18 joint pin- Fantastic hitting cue. The second is a fancier "1996" 4 point w/tombstone...
