    Intricate details!

Just wanted to share... At the Art Museum of Philadelphia, there's a wing called Arms and Armour, where I saw a breathtaking display of inlay intricacy (on rifle stocks from the 1600s) that I have never seen before. Inlays of ivory, precious metals, mother of pearl, etc. and carvings on ivory...

    Unique Bumpers

Ok, so I quickly made a small tenon and slipped the larger o-ring on. The OD is very close to the OD of the butt cap yet provides protection even if the cue is at 45 degrees; the tenon is just short of the thickness of the o-ring. It was a fair idea but I think it looks like crap. The first...

    Unique Bumpers

That's funny that you would suggest that because I actually have another size on-hand just to do that! I only had the time to do my first intention but was prepared to do the other soon... now I'll have to. Give me a couple days and I'll shoot a couple of pics over.

    Unique Bumpers

O-Ring Bumper Here's something I'm experimenting with: a low-profile o-ring bumper. Conversion is still in progress and I just cut in the ring groove last night. This is just an experiment and the first one at that. Like yourself, I too have a few questions (weight bolt or no weight, o-ring...

    Test table?

Hi guys, At a few past SBXs, I noticed someone had a (what I can best describe as a) "quarter"-sized table used to test hit cues. It was probably about 3-4' in length by 18-20" wide; I don't recall if it had any any pockets and if so, maybe only one of each end. No legs I believe as it was...

silly lil question..fibre tip pads to match ring work...

I think I saw a cue for sale either here or on ebay that had [matching] ringwork below the ferrule. If someone recalls that cue, maybe adding the link or pics for us?

    Help with finish on shaft!

You mean Nick's Edge, Q Wiz and/or Q Smooth? Yea, if you want to DIY use one of those and finish with wax and buff. Otherwise, it sounds like you just need a cleaning - the diaper wipe was too wet which raised the grain on the shaft and clearly, he wiped the entire shaft. Take it to a cuemaker...

    Strange things you find

A customer approached me with a rattle in the butt so I removed the rubber bumper to examine the weight bolt. Lo and behold, one was missing but I did see the head of a dime. Customer agreed, I began to remove the dime and found another one and another one and another one... after all was said...

    I want to build cues.

Agreed. Unique Products makes the Travel Tipper mini lathe that you can get started with doing tips, ferrules and shaft cleanings. Use that money to buy into bigger machines. Both Hightower and Unique (and Porper) make quality machines. So true.... you sure you want to get into this? :D It's...
