Why has no one beat Mosconi's high run?

It's cool that this is such a hot topic still. I didn't dig through all 10 pages but I'm surprised nobody is coming right out and saying it. Why has it not been beaten? ...luck. All pool games feature it, even game that is supposed to minimize it. Every break shot is a bit of a crapshoot...

Cheers... good to see you too. I was itching to chat about pool for some reason.

    Cues in Cars

Because you want the best of both worlds, pretty inlays on the butt and low deflection in the shaft.

Bergman calls out Boyes on Facebook

It's a callout in the sense that Boyes has won multiple world class events, made it to the finals of the us open, not to mention all those mosconi cups and the diamond 10b 10ft challenge. Bergman's won some events too, but the big winners for him seem to have been tar-type events, 1-pocket, and...

    Great Dechaine shot

Mike seems to be a fan of these shots. Nasty. https://www.facebook.com/MDProPool/videos/783566251680140/

    Cues in Cars

I've owned the same cue for something like 15 years now, with maybe 4-5 shafts, and it's been in the car day and night, and it hasn't warped. YMMV. The butt is an old Brunswick, shafts are OB. It lives in a cheap generic black 2-cue case, can't even remember the brand. Doesn't mean cues won't...

Multiple short races is a great format!

I agree it's a fine format. I did the math in another thread. If anyone is not tracking ineedaspot's logic, try this link --> http://forums.azbilliards.com/showpost.php?p=4418347&postcount=1 The math isn't hard but it can be lengthy. Let's say you feel strongly that one player has an edge...

Does Everyone Get a Trophy at the Cup This Year?

Been reading both facebook and this thread with some interest. Who do you think sets up Shane's drills when he practices for hours by himself? He doesn't pay an APA 5 to follow him around 6 days a week racking for him. Shane probably has been a "drill setter upper" for at least ten hours a...

Large panorama of the action room at Q-Masters.

This was done with an 18 megapixel DSLR rather than a cell phone so there's lots and lots of detail. But the photo is huge and will take a while to load. I will embed a small version in this post (if the forum software lets me) and link to the very large version, which is 44 megapixels. Full...

come say hi at the us open.

Hey everyone... all is well for sure. I just have been playing more pool than posting about it. I take little breaks from the forum, not for any negative reason, but because my interest wanders to other things. Right now I'm really into photography and have been on a photo forum. Anyway, I saw a...

Shane Van Boening v Ko Pin Yi CSI Invitational-July 17) 10ball Race to 21

Almost missed this match... it was enjoyable but I felt like Shane lost his focus a little at the end. I can't believe he scratched straight in the side on his last break. His 10b break usually rebounds too far back for that to be a risk. I don't know if he was being more careful and dialed it...

    Magic Rack Problems

I am pretty sure they work when curly or even bent a little. But it just drives me nuts to see them like that. It's psychological mostly. So, I gave up trying to cram them into some pocket or roll them in/around things. I just carry them in the original plastic baggie + cardboard backer they...

Pool ball cut-induced throw and cling/skid/kick experiment

Dave this is so good. It dispels some myths and shows some unexpected results. I love that you humored the static electricity people, and I think you're right... static doesn't increase or decrease throw, your slightly reduced throw is probably just the polishing effect. Still, if you wanted to...

    Mike Dechaine

It'd be interesting to know how most of the common Mosconi Cup players performed in their very first year. Sure Johnny's got a 62% win rate, but how'd he do in his first 5 or 6 matches? What about Shane? Earl, I expect the reverse... probably did great in the early ones, then fell apart in the...

    25K more Added $ in U.S. Open ?

I'm wondering if the increased entry fee and lower payout actually led to them having trouble filling the bracket, even though it's been cut in half. Maybe too many top players were showing no interest this year so he's trying to entice them (or anyone else) into coming back.

Tournament Dress Code U.S Vs the World

Well, I dunno if it counts as BIG tournament but, Rum Runners? Also, while the SBE main event featured sharp-looking players, the pro-am was definitely casual friday for some guys.

Am I the only one that cannot warm up to low deflection shafts?

I think it just boils down to how many years you shot with a standard shaft, before attempting to switch. If it's over 10 years, you'll have a tough time ahead of you. Over 20, you can probably forget it entirely. Your brain has lines of aim burned in from decades of seeing certain common cuts...
