    Headaches after difficult matches?

I used to get headaches when playing several hours at a time, didn't matter the toughness of the match. I finally figured it out and it was the constant pressure I put on myself. Now, in between games, I forget about the game and kinda of joke around with people, it gives my brain a rest and...

How old were you when you started playing

6 or 7, my uncle gave us a small step stool to stand on so we could play the game at a better hight. That snooker table looked as big as a house to me.

    Learning Curve

In my opinion the more different games you play the quicker you learn. Don't get stuck in the 8-Ball 9-Ball rut. Growing up I played most every day with my cousins and we played golf, cut throat, snooker, bottle pool, 14/1, you name it we played it and we played on a 9' snooker table. Each game...

    Same every time

I agree with this completely. Thursday night I couldn't lose and broke and ran several times, the music was blaring and there were about 30 people close to the tables, I didn't hear any of it. Sunday was the same scenario and I heard everything and played terrible. Focus is the key.

Same players winning small weekly tournament

I play in a 8-Ball and a 9-Ball tourney every Sunday and we draw from 18 to 26 players for the 8-Ball and 12 to 20 players for the nine ball. 9-Ball is singles and 8-Ball is partners, I think the 8-Ball is a success because we draw for partners. In the end this makes the lower level players play...

When your GAME GOES to Hell what do you do

I lost my game about a month ago in a tournament, I turned to the best player in the room and said "Man I got the shanks, If I were playing golf I would be on the next fairway on every shot". This guy was always kind of cold to me but about 5 minutes later he walked up to me with an imaginary...

    I'm a league newbie, help???

Another good source (at least in my area) are the local veterans or social clubs. If you have access to the American Legion, Elks or the VFW there are usually several pool players there. They will know how to get you fixed up.

How much do you hate losing?

I don't mind losing if in my mind I lost to a better player. I love playing better players because I think it elevates my game to a higher level. If I lose to someone I think I should have beaten then I am very hard on myself. I always try to get to know the better player in hopes of gaining...

    Ferrule Stain Removal

You might try a product called "Oops" from your local hardware store. It is designed to remove paint and glues from unwanted places. I would not let it touch the shaft so apply it to a cloth or paper towel and be very careful. Read the directions carefully first.

What exacly happens under the pressure?

The answer is two fold, know your opponent and have confidence. Confidence is more valuable in pool than poker but knowing your opponent is more valuable in poker than pool. If you know the skill level you are playing against in each game you have the advantage.

    Unwanted and unneeded coaching

First complaint, I hate playing partners and second complaint, I got stuck with a partner yesterday (8-ball tourney) that threw my game so far off I was seeing red. He plays APA and suggested some seriously flawed shots in their conception. He suggested shots that if missed there was no way to...

    Smoking Cigarettes at Expos

If you don't like smoke then don't attend the event. The final decision should be left to the business owner, after all he is the one taking the risk on the business. I live in the Northeast where the states want to govern everything you do, they pile expense after expense on business owners to...

    Competing in same group

You guys are depressing me, I just started playing again this summer (after 20 years) and am having a great time. I am on the radar screen of the top players where I play and enjoy the competition. My goal is to beat these guys regularly and probably will in another couple of months. I hope the...

    Maine Tourny's/action

I don't want to post any names without permission but here is some info about the Waterville area. I've been in Maine for a few months now but don't know any players in Bangor. There are some good shooters in Waterville, I hear TJ's Classic Billiards on the Airport road has some fine shooters...

    Slow Players

Just make the 8 or 9 ball on the break against slow players, then you won't have to put up with slow play. I'll have to admit I take my time on some shots but that is the exception, normaly I shoot pretty quick. The 1st shot following the break takes me a minute or 2 in eightball, I don't...
