JB Case after a few weeks or so. . .

I can't say enough how good John is to work with! I'm pretty uh, uh selective. John delt with my pickiness well.

turning a cue into a breker

IMO, you can do pretty good by just putting a pretty hard tip on like a Samsara, White Diamond, etc, but if the shaft taper is whippy at all, it will show up breaking. A breaker with a 13.5 - 14mm tip and stiff taper is the ideal way to go, but even many break cues aren't this big. Weight is...

JB Case after a few weeks or so. . .

I received this case from John Barton. After a couple of weeks of use, because I hate reviewing stuff I haven't even used. . .It is great. Better than expected. 1. How well does it protect? It protects great. What can I say, it is a JB Ultrapad interior. It lives up to that name and more...

Butterfly Pool Cue Case, what are you like and dislikes

IMO, backpack straps and as small as possible would be key. My JB disappears on my back and it is a 3 x 6 with 2 cues and a Jump in it. A 1 x 2 with thin back pack straps would feel lighter than your wallet!

Going Up & Down The Table

IMO, Grey ghost nailed it. Normally, when just clipping the edge, I might shoot a little above center to get the cue ball to run towards the far rail away from the 9. At this angle, it is key to play more center and get the nice bounce off the rail. This is a tough shot for pros also. I...

WTB/ Phillippino cue...........who makes the best?

I'm going to relight the fire under this old thread because I think it needs to be done. I bought a pre-made jump cue from the_general(Bebot Bautista). It has been a good jumper. At one time he required Western Union, and I know some Americans think Western Union = scam. I too thought this...

Humility and Modesty in the Billiards Industry

Craig, I appreciate your humility. Can you please PM me pics of something you have made, just for me to look at? JB, OK, yea, I can update the sig after I run out to the pool hall with my new case again!!!

Coming Soon... the end of all aiming system calculating.

Good system. I like it. It looks like a good way to teach a new player to make balls. As they develop, subconciously, the mind will see how they miss some shops and addd the neceessary fudge factor to keep going. Sure, on paper it does not work. There are many things in life which do not...

Humility and Modesty in the Billiards Industry

The people above me in this thread are in the industry, I believe. From the customer prospective, I see two things going on here. First, Manwon, you probably make the best cues in your area, state, country, world. . .but I don't know that because you aren't always putting them on here, telling...

What is the best cue in the range of $1000-$1500?

First, you should probably get cue. Go back you your pool hall of choice. Bring calipers, a tape measure and a tip tool. Pick like 6 decent cues and bring them to your table. Trim the tips to a perfect nickel radius before you start. Shoot a game with each. Try to find a best one. When you do...

Purpleheart vs Ashwood for Break Cue Shaft

Yes, me too. I really would like to understand. I would like to understand this better. I know with a 13.5 mm Purpleheart shaft, I can have a cuemaker make the shaft with a break taper and it will come in like 4.3 - 5 oz. That ill give me a forward balance. Also, from what I read...

    Technological advances in cues

Cheaper more accurate production methods. I hate to say it, but to make an accurate cue, the old school way is HARD. To me, that makes the work of guys like Edwin Reyes RIP, Al Bautista, Bebot Bautista, etc soooooo much more amazing than they appear. CNC, advanced filtering, etc should just...

Big deal if my cue looks nice

I started this related post. It is representative of what I have seen in most USA pool rooms. Now, in Japan, my pool room has about 10-20 regulars. About 5-10 of them are shooting with a 1500 - 2000 USD custom cue! The level of play is higher with this group also. For me, I just really enjoy...

Purpleheart vs Ashwood for Break Cue Shaft

I know there are lots of good laminated and non-laminated maple shafts for break cues, but what about the others? Purpleheart vs Ashwood shafts Which is heavier? Which is stiffer? Other considerations? Is the much difference vs maple?

2008 Bebot Bautista BEM Jump Cue Review - Shipped Internationally to an American

No problem. Western Union is not a problem related to them(much) or to you. It is a problem related to the scams associated with Western Union. In America, it just isn't used alot, except when you are sending money to a person with no address and/or no bank account. Among legit people in...

Tip/ferrule for 8/9/10 ball breaks to avoid or lessen english

So my question is, is there a tip or tip ferrule combination which would give the hardest hit and retard unintentional english. I ask because I think it is common to limited your break speed not due to how fast you can swing the cue, but by how fast you can swing with zero English on the cue...
